They allowed us to be loyal to an old god, and in TWW going forward, we’re going to be dealing with old gods… what are the chances that Blizzard actually remembers this was a thing and does something for the N’zoth loyalists?
Blizzard, I still have an eyeball growing out of my forehead does this mean nothing to you?
I want an evil Horde, not “Red Alliance”. The Horde was best under Garrosh. Thrall’s Horde worked out alright in WC3 and early WoW, but now that that hippy is gone the “good Horde” sucks and it was only fun to play when Garrosh was killing and razing everything and cleaving everything down. Horde has been the worse faction of the two since Garrosh was removed (though to be fair the Alliance isn’t doing much better with having a sissy emo king).
Have the Tauren and BEs join the alliance then add some evil races like Naga and ogres and fel elves and such to the Horde, then we are talking.
I think the problem is that many people do not want to be trapped in an evil faction and factions are race based. Now if there was a huge neutral faction for everyone with the possibility to JOIN an evil or excessively good faction the situation would be different. But then we would have balancing problems due to, most likely, fewer people wanting to join the evil faction. Besides, most “evil” people do not view themself as such.
What could have worked better is opposing ideologies. Adherents of each ideology would not necessarily view followers of the other ideology as evil, but they do not want to be expected to assume their lifestyle. those that force their ideology upon others, THOSE can be considered evil.
My imagination is an Order vs Chaos chasm. People are leaning towards either but as long as they do not go to excess, they can safely live together but the more towards chaos you get the more of a brutal barbarian you will come off as and the more order you take on the more of a stifling police state you will build.
In milder barbarian communities’ paladins are welcome but considered odd but further out hostilities towards them are shown. The feral side of Nightelves would make them “mildly barbarian” but not worse than that several has been living in Stormwind since Vanilla.
You would however not see magical law enforcement automatonts such as they have in Silvermoon in a barbarian society.
I have been complaining about this hippy panda crap ever since Pandaria! I don’t get the attitude people have that they’re “tired” of faction warfare. That’s what wow IS. It’s literally in the title. It’s fine if you’re not into it, but then why are you playing? Playing wow and being mad at faction warfare is like playing Mario and being mad you have to jump over a pit; like…okay, but then this isn’t the game for you.
In my head cannon Turalyon goes full-fundie and usurps the throne of Stormwind in Anduine’s absence, ruling with an iron fist along highly ideological lines. Then we could have a Seige of Stormwind raid!
It makes more sense for the Alliance to be “evil” anyway. The Horde actually are a bunch of hippies having campfires and living in tents. The Alliance are all about militarism and colonialism.
I think what people are more tired of is, in a 2 faction game where neither should be 100% good or 100% evil, the story being written af if the only stories allowed are good vs. evil. As others have said,
It has just gotten to the point where if we can’t have a nuanced faction conflict, where both sides do good/evil, then we would rather not have any faction conflict.
I wanted to suggest 1941 Germany, but it’s prolly too soon, or too late because we’re so sensitive now. The window is closed so I will not say it. I want to, but I won’t.
If they could do it so that faction could keep existing in a believable way, I’d tell them to go for it, otherwise we would likely wind up back here again.
