Heyyy… glad to see the msg finally got through!
People who want to PvP are in warmode, people who don’t aren’t. If the mode sucks it’s because people don’t want it. The math is pretty simple.

They use forced faction balance now and it works pretty well
It worked so well there were sweeping transfers off the servers and a significant point of contention when they did it.
How would that work in a PvP-only server? Doesn’t that require cross-realm sharding, which is what we have with current War Mode, but seems to be NOT what the OP is asking for?
A pvp server would be on its own shard/layer/whatever it runs on. Seems to me like OP is asking for a server for world pvp players, not players who opt in and out of war mode all the time
So, in addition to an extremely contentious and problematic balancing system it also is an isolated server that is probably going to be dead because of the lack of population and ability to group up, share in the economy, etc.
Yes, so I’m saying that you can’t force faction balance without sharding, so PvP-only servers would likely be unbalanced as @Cäpslöck predicted (or just ghost towns with no sustainable population, let alone an unbalanced population). It’s a reasonable prediction because you could look up the populations of horde vs alliance back when there was no cross-realm sharding and see pretty huge imbalances.
Reading this thread hurts. To see really new players never knew that PvP servers DID exist nor why they were removed in the first place.
Not even those on PvP Servers of Classic enjoyed the true reality of PvP Servers especially during Phase 2.
And how IMBALANCED they are. I guess to a point whichever side is “the largest” “won the battle”, I suppose…
I mean, part of it is, other part is people just want to play with friends.
And then there’s abusing phasing, where they cross borders or get invited into someone’s else’s shard.
Retail just isn’t the same as Classic, nor is it really one true server. There’s only three Classic Era servers that aren’t connected, but they’re RP servers.
2/3 of them are RP-PvP. Only 1 is non-PvP lol
Maybe Blizz fixed the phasing issue, if War Mode seems to be doing fine with it. IDK, I’m not a PvPer.
I’ve only read from other people’s experiences.
Sure have a pvp server but with No friends, No factions. No sides but your own.
The problem I had with PVP Servers wasn’t so much the PVP Side of it, but the toxic behaviour from players. I did engage in PVP a lot, with a lot of that PVP was open-world. Mostly ganking by others. There was a time I was constantly camped for a couple of hours by a group of people from the Alliance on a low level alt, where one of them added me as friend on BNet to tell me to “git gud or uninstall”.
Thing is, I didn’t want to play on a PVP Server, but my friends were on a PVP Server, and I had no choice to play on one. It wasn’t until around mid WoD until a lot of my friends stopped playing where I switched to a PVE Server. And it wasn’t until around towards the end of SL when I came back to the game I transfered to Frostmourne, which used to be a PVP Server.
Oh yes. PvP breeds toxicity. Not just exclusive to PvP servers. Anything competitive, really.
PvP Servers just encourages toxic behavior more than any other server.
RP servers being the nicests, but I digress.
PvE servers is a mix of both.
Yes, I don’t PvP, but I’ve still dabbled, to see for myself. And, this has been my experience.
Um, was there a reason you accepted a strange B-Net request? You can’t receive B-Net messages without first accepting one’s request…
Doesn’t sound like “friends”, to me. Your wants seemed disregarded, and you were (also) abandoned.
If OP gets their wish, these “used to be PvP Servers” may revert back.
Again, doubt it.
With how often PvP Servers used to get complained about on BOTH Retail & Classic, PvP Servers in Retail is a pipe dream.
I thought the person who added wanted to be friends or something, which yeah, was a mistake on my part.
I mean fair, but I don’t accept strange B-Net requests, when I first didn’t discuss in wanting to be so.
That being said, doesn’t stop low level alts from in-game whispering you, though.
Also to eliminate the class/spec balance issue. Each season the whole server can only play one spec per season. Up first is a mage spec. Just because it would be funny to see every one turn each other into sheep all the time.
I wouldn’t join one personally, not my thing anymore. I can’t see a reason not to add one for the pvp’rs though.
Just one question, why is war mode not the same?
Technically wouldn’t the war mode players just join the PvP server anyways, so it would be the same people just a different server name, then when they don’t want to PvP they’ll switch back to their PvE realm for a while. (Pretty much toggling war mode off)
Because PvP Servers never had a “toggle”. It’s forever flagged.
The “toggle” would just be logging onto a different character.
How is that different?
In both cases, you were world pvping with someone and then they disappear and play elsewhere.
Come on, now, IK you understand the difference
