oooo a Bounty Hunter system would be awesome! Bitter angry folks who just got roflstomped in open PvP can add to a Bounty on the players head, then folks can take those bounties, in war mode. Once a player has a bounty on them, they are unable to leave war mode. Something along those lines could be a nice feature for duelists.
World pvp kinda sucks, war mode made it a little better but I never did understand the appeal honestly.
that’s adorable
I doubt they’ll do anything with pvp during SL. What you have is what you get. Better look to the future of 10.0.
It just feels like pvp is more of an afterthought with very little effort put into it. You have the arenas(which is basically the end game no matter how you look at it). Pvp in the world is pointless and gives you nothing? You’re not going to get high end pvp gear from doing world pvp because people would find ways to exploit it.
I think war mode needs a war to fight. I think there should be a hardpoint capture system in every zone that grants buffs for quest hubs. That’ll get people in war mode. Use a layering system to keep zones faction balanced, and the overpop faction gets overflow layers with AI enemies. War mode fixed.
If you miss world pvp, then doing it is all the reward you need.
WM should have no rewards, period.
Warmode is basically just groups of people ganking 1 player … I wish it was real skirmishes not just overwhelming by majority
Me experience growing up on Shu’Halo, which was a PVE server, had a lot of open world PVP going on before Cata.
There would be a few horde that loved to attack towns, particularly Auberdine. They would kill the quest givers and slow my progress leveling up. Then I get to see what a fully geared Alliance hunter could do. One day…
Then I grew up, started raiding ICC, got several pieces of raid gear, and went back home to defend the low level zones. Like clockwork, one or two would roll into Auberdine and attack quest givers. I slaughtered them, repeatedly. It was glorious!
I never flagged up unless it was to join a fight in progress, but I would flag up. Now, there’s never any action to get in on, because it’s all in Warmode.
Warmode shouldn’t shard players away, they should just be running around flagged, like on an old school PVE server. Give me a reason to /PvP while I’m out doing my chores, and it would probably happen. But I prefer running around unflagged, which is why I’ve never turned warmode on.
But I would want that flag to fall after 5 minutes, not have to go find a rested area to remove it.
Whose this mythical “we” you’re referring to?
I certainly don’t miss getting ganked by a max level with high end gear ill never get myself, while he or she camps my corpse preventing me from playing the game I pay for.
I hated that crap in the tbc and wrath era and I hate that crap now.
I dont mind pvp if its on my terms. I.e when I got my servant of n’zoth title. After that I turned off warmode and never bothered again.
If I want pvp ill join a random bg or play the soulsborne series which has actual skill based pvp and not what wow considers to be pvp.
i prefer not to get 10v1 by horde
There is nothing you can do to get ppl that don’t care about pvp to turn on warmode and pvp
Stop trying its never going to happen
Remember when PVP servers were a thing?
Getting ganked is a reward all its own.
War mode sucks because of the grieving and ganking. The very small playerbase that enjoy that can have it.
A lot of us miss WPvP, but SL is not setup well for it imo.
PvP gear has limited use in PvE with the current design. There are no quests to kill x amount of players in zone for a nice reward. There is no separate weekly PvP chest–shared with the rest.
Idk why people who don’t like PvP are here to claim it doesn’t need incentive. Of course it does–much like PvE.
Uh, OP, here’s a clue.
If you need special incentives to turn PvP mode on, then maybe PvP just isn’t that fun because if PvP were fun, people would do it because it is fun.
But, because it isn’t fun, the majority of people avoid PvP as much as possible, and to alleviate the problem, you gotta dangle all kinds of ridiculous bonuses to try and entice people to come over to War Mode, lol.
Maybe if PvP were to become fun, fair and balanced, maybe more would do it without needing to be paid to do it.
Pretty much you said. Imo just get rid of warmode, and give the players the old realms back. Maybe offer some free transfers for a limited time for the folks that feel like they are stuck either on pvp, or pve realms. Oh, and getting rid of cross realm zoning would be a positive. Although I doubt crz can go away at this point considering the continued bleeding out this game is doing. Just my two copper on the topic anyways.
don’t need any other than pride and respect.
i play with wm on with all my toons. i actually went play on my old horde main this weekend to try and get her caught up just because i hate to just abandon all that work over the years. while in the maw and korthia, i didn’t see one alliance player in 3 days; really!?!
quit being a bunch of pussies, and maybe we wouldn’t be outnumbered all the damn time.
Most people aren’t. Most people on PvP servers started to play with their friends and then were stuck there, while the wannabe gankers whined that they had made a lifetime decision to continue to play and make themselves available to be easy victims even as faction balance inevitably made their faction unplayable. So people never went out without guild groups. They only leveled in dungeons. They stopped leveling characters, and because it was so expensive to move all their characters to a different realm, they stopped playing and either rerolled or quit, because they couldn’t face having to start again.
Inevitably most “PvP” servers became single faction. Yet thanks to the current system I see some minority faction recovery on servers that had become a “PvP server” joke.
You aren’t going to make people be your victims. They’re way over that.
