By “we”, I mean those of us who identify as “open world” or “solo” players.
We got NOTHING in Season 4. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zip.
And now it looks like open-world/solo content is getting nerfed even harder in Dragonflight? Why? Why are you doing this?
Not everyone wants to be funneled into gogo timed sweat modes.
Raids/M+/PvP are great for those who enjoy it, and I hope you take nothing away from those people, although the Group Loot fiasco is insane, but a different topic.
Why not give open-world and solo players some love too? Give us some open world gear that scales in the open world so we can feel like we’re making good progress. Give us more content. Heck, why not make open-world and solo play a pillar? Perhaps add something to the Great Vault that gives open-world and/or solo players something to look forward to, unlocked with an open-world or solo challenge (world boss and world quest completions, or something like Visions, etc.)?
Speaking of Visions, why was that mode taken away from us entirely? It was great for solo gearing, but then we got Torghast with no gear, and now nothing new in DF to fill the void?
Cater to the raiders, M+ers and PvPers all you want. That’s fine. But for goodness sake stop forgetting open-world or solo players. Not everyone wants to, or is capable of, doing challenge content to make good progression!
Hello, I see you posted a thread about having no content. You know, a lot of the praise and excitement about the expansion is coming from the people that don’t really do any content! Are they incorrect or are they just listening to what some casual youtuber is saying?! Guess we’ll see, haha!
You can progress in the open world. There is more of a gearing path than there ever was. However the open world is not end game content so there are limits.
However, you can keep leveling toons and have enough content to keep you busy the entire expansion.
Big new zones for each patch isn’t a reasonable expectation.
Honestly I think releasing classic was really targeted towards the solo open world player. It takes a LONG time to in classic.
I’ve been open world solo, occasional “suggested 3to 5 person” quests,wq’s,dq’s,regular questing.
Rare a dungeon or raid unless it’s older content.
I’ve been happy with what I have gotten out of doing all of that being on what I consider a casual player.I feel the rewards for all of those things are just fine in my book.
But who knows maybe that’s just me but as a casual I think what we’ve gotten out of it in SL has been fine, like I said, maybe that’s just me and I’m good with it.
We aren’t treated to the repeatable content that raiding, Mythic+ and PvP have.
Have you ever ran Visions? That was fun solo gameplay. Torghast is something kind of like it, but unlike Visions, it had no gearing path! Visions would drop gear and currency to spend at a vendor on cosmetics. We didn’t get any of that during SL. It felt bad!
Then pile on Season 4 giving us nothing new at all. We didn’t get any new content, ilvl upgrade, none of that. Meanwhile, PvP got new tier sets and ilvl upgrades, M+ got new affixes and ilvl upgrades, and Raids got affixes added with ilvl upgrades and mounts. We got nothing.
players doing end-game competitive activities, are also open world players that do dailies, collections & play bejeweled. especially for alts…
there’s plenty to do - but look, you’re gonna have to add abilities on your action bars if you want any good gear progression…otherwise enjoy your greens
I agree that open world players should have something much more substatial to chew on than just running circles farming rares in ZM.
Hell, dragonflight’s open world content just seems to be more vapid world quests and clones of BFA’s invasions. Not exactly the most gripping of stuff.
False, it was targeted towards boomers and conservative gamers who want to Time Warp back to an age before games “went woke” and relive their teenage memories after work. I feel terrible for the few players who actually loved classic for its gameplay (I don’t understand them, but I feel bad for them) because the aggressive social traditionalists in Classic hijacked their game from them and claimed it as their own. It’s like a Breitbart Roadhouse now.
Call me a masochist but I love actual classic era’s gameplay. I don’t have the patience for long sessions of it, but i adore how lethal the world is especially as a solo quester and how many cute gimmicks there are system-wise that either got nerfed or smoothed over in future expansions. Classic-era is an imperfect unbalanced game, but I love it for that. A relic of the transitional period between oldschool and modern MMOs
Then, I hope you have a server that has not been affected by these hateful, pushy, preachy extremists and that, if you do, it remains safe from them so that you can enjoy it without being forced to disable chat.
IMO, Blizzard shouldn’t tolerate them, but I believe they’re using classic as a “magnet” to draw the players with the most “old-fashioned” (social) takes away from retail.
