We lost Captain Grim, fellas

This isn’t his last WoW video, as he states it himself, but he is definitely distancing himself from WoW…again.

It’s actually mental that I can’t even post a YT link on here lmfao :poop:

A well put together video. Not going to lie, seeing it all packaged like that makes you really think twice, “Why are we still here?

It would explain why me, personally, now only play 1 toon.

Classic WoW - I raid on x1 toon in Cata (8/8H raidlogging)
Retail WoW - and only x1 toon (3.1k IO), where all my renowns are still at 8-12 and with zero raid clears, no campaign completed, zero side content mog collected, but 100’s of keys completed lol.
And now I want to go back to TBC and play Tier 4 as prot paladin…again.

How many of us play for our friends and guilds?
How many of you would quit the game if you got gkicked or your buddies would leave?

Just curious. Obviously, there are plenty of folks who love the game and can’t see themselves quitting it, as I was back as recent as Wrath-C. And yet here I am, playing just because of my friends.

I’ve gotten gkicked before but that’s because the GM was a huge ***. I regret nothing.

I have buddies leave this game/take a hiatus all the time but that hasn’t stopped me at all from playing WoW.

I love my Mechagnome. Captain Grimm is no doubt a classic Andy. He wants to come back and play Classic? It’s still there for him.

Yeah I seen that. IMO he was the best WoW machinima creator in along time.

If my buddies quit, I’d be out of this game 100%

I play this because i like it, mad concept ik.

Its also one of the few mmos i can just hop in and play instead of wasting 30 minutes searching for people to get out of the town.

I’ve played this game primarily solo for 18 years. There have been very few times I’ve felt inclined to stay because of other people, and even then, that feeling doesn’t last long. This is my free time and I’ll spend it how I wish.

That said, I have been trying to branch out and be more social lately. It does get rather lonely enjoying the game by myself sometimes.

Re: Captain Grim, he’s had one foot out the door for years now. This doesn’t surprise me in the slightest.

For me personally it’s a long-term attachment. Outside of that, I’m slowly losing interest.

As a bonus the game feels great for an MMO. Unfortunately, all that wonderfulness is riddled with RNG to encourage long-term player metrics.

I’m too old for RNG these days. I get maybe one hour a day, if not two. I’m also constantly asking myself what’s my time worth? Farming M0 at 597 ilvl is the same experience as farming +10 at 650 ilvl. What’s the point?

He is a funny guy and I loved his videos.

That being said, it was a 20+ min video of him crying about a video game acting like his wife just cheated on him after a 20 year marriage. Just quit the game and go find something else to do.

It’s a video game. The sun is still going to rise in the east and set in the west.

Jeeeez. I didn’t actually open the link to watch it. Sounds equivalent to the “I’m quitting” rant threads we get here.

Literally who

What if you’re east of where the sun rises?

The Earth is flat so it always rises in the same place.

I’m playing because I’m still having fun. If I stop having fun, I’ll stop playing - like I have so many times before.

I think I will be staying for a while. Been on a MMO break for 2 years due to RL. Been away from WoW even longer as BFA and SL lost me very early in their life cycle.

Returned last Xmas. So far so good - except for the bugs.

I might get bored of it eventually but we will see.

Should’ve known Captain Grim was obsessed with Classic.

Eh… he’s not wrong. But whatever. There aint a whole lot of other options for mmo’s out there right now so here we are.

MMO players go through an existential crisis and become enraged or despair when they feel like they’ve wasted their time or their lives when they feel burnt out or the game isn’t going in a direction they like. You see it all the time, it’s a very interesting psychological phenomenon. I suppose it is not limited to MMO players, but you see it more often considering the sheer amount of time people put into MMOs.

I’m here because I am. There isn’t a reason, there never was one. If the game fulfills some need in me, I continue. If it doesn’t, I do not.

Oh no. Anyways.
