Awww have you seen a Captain Grimm machinima?
Vanilla and TBC was when I felt the most social and socially connected to folks and to my Guild. We’d be in Vent knees creak chatting for any and all reasons. Wed Dungeon and Raid together (I was the only PvPer in my Guild, got to Rank 9 as Feral Druid on the old Vanilla Honor System #HumbleBrag) and it just felt like a wonderful experience.
But not everything lasts and I had Guild Hopped when the Raiding fell apart, wanted to see all the Raids my Guild didnt do before they were obsolete. Got to see all of BWL, AQ40 and about half of Naxx before everyone on the server stopped for the Expansion release date.
And I’ve since then changed servers, changed factions and have been in numerous Guilds with each subsequent expansion…but its never hit the same, the Social & Guild aspect of this game. Feel like I put in extra work being friendly and trying to make the Guilds I get into to be successful…but nah, every time ppl just stop playing, and feels like inky the same 3-5 ppl make active attempts at being guildmates…so it all just falls apart.
So I’m just in solo mode anymore these days
I’m not lying when I say this is legitimately the first time I’ve heard of this person that my memory can recall.
Why do people keep posting about streamers quitting that likely no one knows or cares about?
Just a different type of doomerism.
You should check some of his videos. They are legit funny. Some more than other, but still good.
We lost Pale Eyed Paul, fellas.
same.
i’m not real big into MMO youtubers, so I don’t really know anyone by name.
His video was basically the same energy as the one MadSeasonShow made years ago before eventually coming back to WoW content all the same.
Let them vent, I guess.
Because the game isn’t that fun if you aren’t playing with friends.
And I’d argue most that are still here have their static cliques already, so you’re screwed if you don’t have a group to play with regularly.
I’ve reached out myself, did a M0 with randoms, but my god- people are terrible at this game.
It makes you understand why folks don’t PuG all the time anymore.
PuGs are worse now than ever.
It’s gotten to the point where I just play by myself and do queued content, but that’s it.
Being bad at the game is fine in Classic, but in Retail where everything is endgame focused, it’s much less desirable.
Also yeah, basically agree with everything in Captain Grim’s videos.
Blizzard just doesn’t learn from their past.
Either that or it’s new hires making all the same mistakes of yesteryear.
I’m always an MMO player though, whatever comes along next, I’ll be there.
As much as I love WoW, I am by no means shackled to it- I’ve played every WoW-killer, and will continue to.
TLDR - For as important as WoW has been in the gaming sphere, it certainly is treated more like garbage than something sacred.
Well honestly that was pretty funny. Now I feel like I’ve been missing out.
I can name a few but they are more guide creators than “mmo youtubers” so to say. And of course we all know of Asmonbuoy.
Not gunna lie. I would have loved to see him rip on Brann and Delves.
Me.
I run the guild. There’s a lot of us. Unless the entire guild quits, I’m here for them.
Also: I have no idea who it is you’re talking about, but I assume some content creator?
Grimm’s mockery on Shadowlands is second to none. Little did any of us know, he didn’t even play Shadowlands.
I watched all 20 minutes of the posted vid. He’s not wrong on a lot of points, but saying current “Classic” is the best version of the game is far from right. Nothing will ever be 2004 WoW again.
My favorite is Gorak’s Guide. He does classic, but the range of expression he gets out of the classic models is really impressive. He has really good comedic timing.
And it’s totally un-voiced. So I don’t know his opinion on anything, which is ideal really.
It must be so hard being a WoW content creator.
Your only real options are
- tik-tok meme-filled PVP videos
- “wow this guy level to max level picking his nose it took 300 hours wowwwwww”
- lore videos that have been done dozens of times already
- Blizzard criticism rants
- M+/raid class meta guides (boring)
Grim’s stuff was actually great, different, and had effort so it says a lot if even he’s burnt out. People that smugly go “Who?” are actually part of the problem.
Exactly!
Oh yeah. “Covenants in a Nutshell” is pure gold.
the players havent changed the company has the love and passion all started to die with activision and now only 1 OG remains and he alone is not enough to fix the slop corporate greed and corruption under bobby has done.
I got the doom robes toy for this very reason
