Right. But now EQ is our AOE finisher. Mastery will never be a great stat until it effects all our spells which I’d love to see.
Looking at Logs it’s pretty clear Ele needs Buffs. The question is how they do it to let those of us who want to play SE play it without feeling gimped. The tough thing is Ele Tier is so skewed towards Lava Burst I think they’re just going to Buff the FE Build and call it a day.
They’ll never revert to the point where LB and CL are nearing the GCD cap. If anything they might revert the stack reset which with a 10 stack max isn’t an issue and to me promoted good gameplay.
A 10 stack cap is fine as long as we see Buffs that help with that playstyle. That means damage increases and Maelstrom generation increases. It also keeps Lust as a strong CD which wasn’t the case with pre nerf Machine Gun.
Is it now blizzard policy that no class or spec should be expected or able to press a button more than 1X/sec even with heroism…? Let’s hope they can balance all of the other classes before the Race to World first.
They don’t want an ability you spam to be hitting the GCD cap of 0.75 seconds for an entire fight. You’d need to stack a ton of Haste to hit that number during Lust for most specs and even then it’s only for 40 seconds each fight.
The problem here is that you need to understand that if you are only spamming LB/CL @20stacks of storm ele…the ele will despawn…The intended play is that you have to weave in as many lava bursts as possible to keep a permanent storm ele, and lava bursts are cast at GCD if they are instant cast procs. In addition you need to weave in your Earth Shock spenders (or EQ for aoe). If you are simply mashing LB/CL the entire time, you are doing much less damage and losing your storm ele which is a major dps loss. So only a fraction of the time is spent casting LB @0.6s intervals if you are playing correctly.
Where did I say all you did was spam Lightning Bolt? Of course you weave in procs and Earth Shock. In the end though you were mainly spamming Lightning Bolt which at sub GCD speeds was the issue for Blizz.
The only hard cast in the Machine Gun build was Lighting Bolt. Everything else was instant cast. Earth Shock and Surge Procs. You never hard cast Lava Burst because when done right Lighting Bolt was better.
You made it sound like we would be casting LB@.75 seconds for an entire fight. If played right your LB would stay at a low cast time the entire fight, but you weave in LVB surge procs and spenders that although instant cast, they automatically trigger the 1s GCD so you cant recast anything for 1 second after the Lava surge proc or ES. So depending on how many LV surge procs you get or ES’s you cast, you still are slowed down by the GCD of those spells…the LB filler spam alternates with these slower instant casts that trigger 1s GCD. So like I said only a fraction of the time is spent spamming LB.
At the haste levels of Machine Gun the GCD drops to 0.75 sec. You act like that break in spamming would have made huge difference.
Properly geared and played the vast majority of casts during a fight would have been Lightning Bolt sitting at or just under that 0.75 sec GCD cap.
We all need to come to the realization that they aren’t going to revert this change. So ask for realistic Buffs that would keep the playstyle intact and let us be competitive in Single Target for raiding.
Its a fast and slow Ebb and flow. It does make a difference compared to mashing LB @0.6s for an entire fight. Blizzard does have a chance to properly fix the issue (aka revert the change or offer substantial buffs during fire and storm ele) that they have known about since all the feedback they had received in the PTR for months. If someone has an accessibility problem with any talent choice for any class or spec, they can try another talent choice/class/spec. This was not a required talent. It was an option that was finally viable rather than feeling obligated to play Icefury for raid which has been the go to spec for years and probably one of the most difficult specs in the game to master.
Where’s the slow part when you never hard cast anything but Lighting Bolt and everything else is instant cast with a 0.75 sec GCD? You go from spamming Lightning Bolt to spamming instant casts.
I didn’t want this change but I can see why Blizz thought they needed to make it.
In all honesty, the community they probably need to listen to is the exit survey community. And what ever money and effort they spent on the CC would probably been better spent on focus groups.
after you cast ES/EQ or an insta cast LvB you cannot cast anything for another 1s. When that 1s GCD is up, then you can start casting the LB/CL. Maybe i’m wrong but I’ve never actually played on PTR with a 4pc. But I know from the feel of it when playing Storm Ele and it reaches 20 stacks, you notice when swapping between spamming LB as filler and ES as spender that when you use LvB or ES there is a very noticeable 1s GCD before it will allow you to cast LB again.
To repeat…the GCD gets lowered with Haste along with your cast times. At 20 stacks and using Unlimited Power the GCD dropped to 0.75 sec which is as low as it can go. At that point the delay from the GCD is barely noticeable.
You can’t compare how the SE build played prior to Tier and after you got your 4 piece pre nerf. Perma Storm Ele with perma 20 stacks depending on the flow of the fight was a completely different animal than what you played in 9.1.
With the full Machine Gun build you hit the GCD cap and stayed there the whole fight.
This is categorically false. If you haven’t even attempted to look at logs where people are casting at 20 stacks, then why pick a random number (0.75) out of the blue?
