Your vision of the game is more likely to erode it into an even smaller niche than it currently occupies. Making it as annoying as possible to run relatively trivial content helps no one, and the average audience is a lot closer to “retail players” than those who played back in the 00s.
If solitaire was an MMO then yes it would be horrific.
WOW is an MMO so you have to force social interaction. That is why quest lines come together in certain hubs like hillsbrad and ashenvale. This was done SPECIFICALLY to force PVP and social interaction.
Having to run to dungeons through the world forces interaction and PVP. It also forces you to experience the world which you may think doesn’t matter but I guarantee you, you have good memories of it.
If you could instantly teleport everywhere in WOW it would be a dead MMO.
I usually dont resort to this, but MAN… you are a really dumb person bud.
Just because you don’t understand game design doesn’t mean I’m dumb. The guy who designed WOW classic has said what I’m saying.
You know the game you are playing. I guess his design was so bad you are still playing it and posting on the forums for it.
LUL.
They’ve all but removed PvP from the modern game, is that a completely bad decision?
Wouldn’t it be better to simply encourage interaction through means like better quality gear?
But it doesn’t force PvP on a PvE server, and if I’ve already voluntarily chosen to interact with other players in the dungeon, why do I have to be forced to interact with other players out in the world when I’m just trying to get to the dungeon?
It was only one guy?
Yeah mostly. He designed all the classes and the itemization in Classic and was a key person into getting PVP into the game at all. WOW was going to be only PVE at first.
They haven’t lul. Level on Grobbulus right now…
If you are talking about retail, then yes it was a bad idea to implement war mode.
You’re running exclusively on nostalgia and delusion. Megaservers— the choice of most playing the game, are almost always lopsided to one faction, and World PVP just isn’t a thing. Running to dungeons is not half the adventure you make when you factor in summoning stones, flight (both personal and through FPs), and the lack of real threats of World PVP.
The game you want is clearly not the game that most people playing want. People will gladly prioritize accessibility over your romanticization of the game, which makes everything a chore. Sure, you’ve temporarily won against RDF, but realistically this is just trying to use a heavy guiding hand to force players into something they aren’t as interested in in 2022.
If this laughably false claim of yours was true then we could easily dismiss anything said by someone so demonstrably inept. I’ve had my fun, but Shut The Front Door with this HorseSpit!
Wanna bet. He told the guy who made items in classic how to make them. He didn’t do the actual work, he gave direction.
He was a game designer, not a dev.
The guy. The only guy who can claim to have single-handedly caused Classic versions of WoW to be a thing, was most proud of War mode. You need to stop making Shtuff up.
He was one of the main people who gave direction because he was a game designer. His job was coming up with how the game works.
He wasn’t a coder…
Then he was bad at game design if he thought giving Spirit to warriors was a good idea.
Says you. Spirit leveling is a thing in classic on warrior.
Not at level 60 it aint.
I said leveling or are you dense?
Spirit and Strength plate level 60 gear exists. Explain how that’s a good idea.
I guess the only logical thing for someone with almost 4k posts on a WoW forum to do is to go to bat for everything Blizzard does
you can use RDF with your friends. RDF doesn’t interfere with social interaction. You can always talk to your group mates no matter how the group is formed. It even introduces you to NEW people you would never have met.
There is no valid reason not to include it in wrath classic.
So, wait, who was he again? The guy who single-handedly designed the way WoW works and who didn’t want PvP to be in a game in the Warcraft franchise.
