Important notes: It’s not a full mount, and still ends when you touch the ground. Uncertain if the cooldown is being removed or not.
Edit: They said the cooldown will be “shorter”. (edit, 11/16: it will have a 10 second cooldown)
TBH a bit more effort should go in to making it a mount, and it shouldn’t have a cooldown. Druids are getting a better version of it than we are in 11.0
Hopefully it wont have a cooldown so we can keep soaring without need a mount.
I wish we could also have static flying or ‘TBC Flying’ for Drac as well! I want to hover in the air!
He responded to that as well… still has a cooldown, but it will be shorter. No idea what “shorter” means as far as how shorter.
I’m assuming the current reductions we’ve earned through dragonriding glyphs will be baked in going forward so you can still reduce the cooldown to 1 minute.

That druids are getting the better version is the dumbest thing possible.
Understandably having a race, not a class, with dynamic flight has definite perks, but allowing druids to be the only race with the fully functional version of the ability is stupid.
Dracthyr should be able to use their wings to ground mount, and enter into dragonriding while falling off a cliff so long as they aren’t in combat. Im glad we’ll get the vigor pip recharge, but they need to commit to implementing the version of wings that everyone is imagining. There is a reason they need to continue clarifying how their changes don’t meet expectations; because everyone knows how the ability should work, and blizz is intentionally not doing that.
Not really. Since everybody else can have it as a mount with no drawbacks, it would just be flavor.
It’s not like Soar is instant cast or anything.
Just got the news. So glad that they finally listened. Lame that there’s a cooldown so it won’t feel like an actual mount, but way better than its current state
The CD on Soar should be removed entirely.
Next they should give it to demon hunters.

Just failing to understand why druids are getting a feature that dracthyr should have had from the get go. Don’t get me wrong I’m happy they’re getting something cool, but like idk… Maybe the dragons would like to fly? With their wings whenever they want?
Don’t see why there needs to be a CD really at all since you already have to be on the ground to use it in the first place. Their original argument of why they gave it a CD was weak and is even weaker now that druids can just instantly dynamic fly wherever they please. Truly baffling decision making.
Because druids have to have the best version of things in the game, or they get sad.
Druid travel form has been intended as a huge class perk. They are just continuing the trend.
I understand that. What I don’t understand is why the dracthyr in the beta could dynamic fly with no cd on soar and then they nerfed it by giving it a long CD and justified it by claiming that it gives this huge advantage over others for… Chromie time?
But now that druids can just jump off a cliff and go bird form and dynamic fly, the original argument against soar fell apart completely. It was already an inferior version of dragon riding. And then they just give it to another class with no restrictions? Somethings got to give man.
It’s not that Druids are specifically getting better then us by design (they are, they just aren’t targeting Dracthyr specifically)
All the way back to Classic the Druid class has had a travel form, it’s part of the class fantasy. As the game has evolved and new travel mediums were added, so too were the travel forms.
From Burning Crusade on they have had flying form. Instant, able to herb (and mine in the past) without losing the form. Blizzard added a mount later to give other player the ability to herb while mounted (and removed the Druids ability to mine while in flight form) to level the playing field.
TLDR; Druids have always had a better mount than most due to their shifting. It’s part of who a Druid is. Dracthyr aren’t being specific targeted, they just are joining the rest of the classes watch the Druid fly away with their herbs.
I guess the point I’m trying to make is: Just let dracthyr fly with soar and make it not have a cool down.
That’s it. That’s all I want. I don’t care that druids have a better version of it. I just want to fly without a mount.
The Dracthyr soar should be treated the same as the druid travel form. It makes no sense that as being basically dragons they can’t fly the same as a druid flight form. We have wings for a reason.

I may resubscribe for another year if they do it right and there is no cooldown. We should have the same functionality as we do with the dragon riding mount in our Dracthyr form, anything less is immersion-breaking.
