The WoW forums have an absurd number of contrarians who are obsessed with determine what’s not possible, instead of what is possible. I dont know what it is about this community, but it’s the worst part about it. I’m convinced there’s a bunch of regressive luddites who don’t want the game to iterate or add new features at all.
You see the same stuff in the High Elves threads in the general forum. There’s just a bunch of people who want to say No to everything.
No one tried shutting you down. Well, there were like 2 people. The rest were saying if its going to be done, do it right, and people took that as “no 2h ever!”
If its just weapon restrictions lifted then its not even really back, and that is an absolute possibility due to it doing less damage. Its not like these issues that have been in since wrath just magically disappeared with this announcement.
2h frost is back but i can foresee scaling issues already without some real changes to frost as a spec. the farther you get into next expansion the more apparent the scaling difference will be as you gear up between 2h and dual wield. razor ice and certain mechanics like killing machine inherently favor dual wield more.
as mentioned previously obliterate isnt going to be hitting any harder if its just blizz removing weapon limits on abilities because thats now how it works anymore.
id wait for more information about how 2h is being implemented because left as just a weapon choice its hamstringing yourself and bringing something back just for it to suck would be an awful feeling
This is the EXACT thing that I brought up months ago that got me labled as anti-2h. People didnt care at that point, just wanted it as an aesthetic option.
But if its just plain out worse, could be 15% or more just from the 2 mechanics you listed, people wont use it. At least no serious player.
Just looking at Obliterate right now 440+430 ilvl 1h weapons compared to a 445 2h weapon, its not even a 200 damage difference. 10,270 for DW, 10,415 for 2h. A 145 damage difference.
Its like arms getting shield slam. It might open up the possibility for a glad stance type of warrior, but it might just suck.
Do you seriously think there won’t be a Might of the Frozen Wastes passive? Blizz can be blind sometimes, but they aren’t THAT blind. It’s a very blind and uninformed opinion to think that there won’t be a passive that changes some spell values between the weapon types. In every patch where Fury, Frost, Windwalker, etc have been able to use multiple weapon types, there have been passives to alter spell values.
People still level? BOOST LIFE BABY Sorry just kidding, I know that’s not helpful. Been playing soo long I haven’t had to level a new character since MoP (Monk), and Demon Hunter doesn’t really count either lol.
im not pointing out a negative im simply stating that just giving the weapon option back would be silly of them.
previous expansions would say otherwise. i wouldnt put it past them but lets wait and see yea? my hope is normalize killing machine procs between the two. for example make killing machine proc off main hand only but boost its chance to proc to what is effectively dual wields rate. and give 2h passive razorice effect so it can runeforge fallen crusader.
nowhere in my post did i state i was against it coming back. chill with the hostility please. i dont care for the back and forth on whether it should come back or not as i dont play the game enough for it to matter to me anymore. i simply stated that simply reimplimenting it and leaving it as is would be asking for trouble not that that is what happened as its still incredibly early
Wrong. Historically DW has scaled better through having a stronger mastery than 2h. Towards the end of any given expansion, DW having a higher % of frost damage would leave them in a better spot.
KM was always on a normalized PPM system, what are you on about? And also, nice selective memory, the 5 expansions that have let DKs, Warriors, or Monks chose between 2h and 1h have had passives that alter spell values in accordance to weapon type. History says we get Might of the Frozen Wastes back, not that blizzard will fail to implement it. We’ll see some kind of spell value differences between the two builds for sure.
KM is entirely based on haste and crit. The more you have the more it procs. ppm doesnt actually mean thats how many procs you get per minute. I was looking into this earlier and you use ppm, as well as other things, to get a chance on hit. I cant remember the exact formula. With having 2 weapons, DW has more chances to crit, and it attacks faster so there are just more chances there as well.
And thats just wrong. There was no passive in Wrath that altered spell values. MotFW came in with Cata and just increased melee damage to try to bring 2h up to the point of DW. It didnt really work.
These passives didnt actually work out, they just didnt. Its best to not repeat the failures of the past and actually address the actual issues. If your car has a flat tire, changing the air filter does nothing to fix the actual reason why you arent going anywhere.
Not if people dont want to play with someone nerfing the groups damage. Those people are out there, and they live in pugs. If your guild wants to push content as well in a serious manner they want the best possible scenario, and again those guilds exist.
If you are just going to casually do stuff then great, go be happy. Your input is done, and other people are starting to actually worry because its Blizzard we are talking about, that balance isnt going to be there.
Which was my actual point from the beginning yet I had to constantly defend against a strawman argument that lasts to this day.
