Since Frost is getting a 2 hander, what about Legion?
If Iām ALLOWED to use a 2 hander, but I go to Legion to level, wonāt I basically HAVE to use the twin blades?
Iām interested to know how that is going to work.

Good Question, I wonder how they will address Legion Artifact weapons? I wonder if we will be allowed to use the 1H appearance as a 2h or if we will just use normal transmogs as 2h. It will be interesting to see what direction they decide to take.
Either way, iām excited to play this play style again.

I love playing Frost on my DK (though I admit Blood DK is my first love), but dual wield just always feels WEIRD. I mean, Arthas had a giant two handed swordā¦ whereās mine?
Iāve just always felt that at least for Frost, it should have always been two handed.

you donāt need the artifacts to play legion, like at all. You can play with green itens/heirloons just fine.
If you want to, the artifact will be more easy/accessible, but not even close to necessary

Thatās now.
In Shadowlands, the leveling will be different. You might actually need them.
It might NOT be necessary, but you canāt take what we have NOW, to judge what is COMING.
with the new leveling it will be even less necessary.
Artifacts are just normal weapons now, you donāt get artifact powers anymore, you donāt empower with relics, nothing.

Since the artifacts from Legion no longer possess their artifact abilities, they are just regular weapons that can use artifact gems to increase their item level. You do not actually need them anymore.

Honestly, we donāt know if thatās true at this point or not.
You may not get the powers now but in order to level SOLELY in Legion, they might have to reinstate them.
The truth is, we just donāt know yet.
Getting it back is only half the problem. It needs to be balanced with dw and with this no talent team it will be a disaster

there is no reason for that, both logistically and from a lore standpoint.
Legion is old content, regardless of the new level system, those things are features while the expansion was current, Artifacts are dead and gone, if you didnāt in that time, you canāt toy with then now.
That is a very good question since weapons donāt really drop in Legion content and some players might not have heirloom weapons.
I used heirloom weapons and only equipped the artifact when the storyline required it.
What Iād love to see is the ability to reforge the artifact into a 2h like it should be.
Another option would be to remove the spec restrictions on artifacts so that we can use the unholy one.
They could also find a way to add weapon drops to Legion, although tbh I think thatās unlikely.
dw isnāt being removed so you could just be stuck with the frost Legion artifact as is until you get a better 2h weapon. Iād really like to see a 2h option for levelling through Legion if you donāt have a heirloom weapon though.

I am pretty sure they are not going to revamp old quests just to make this mandatory, they already changed it at the end of Legion to work without the artifact weapons, why would they go out of their way to force people to use them? (this would have to be for WW and BM monks too)
Artifact weapon quests are a fun bit of Lore and a side adventure should you want to pursue them.
I bet all loot is just normalized across all expansions for 10-50 zones (or however it is broken down), so you wonāt have to worry about missing out on getting 2H swords as a frost DK.
