also, I feel like raid loot is kind of useless when PUGGING the raid, it’s a lot less useless if you have a dedicated group/guild. Chances of you finally being able to roll on something AND WIN it go through the roof if everyone in the group already has it and/or is cooperating and not just hogging everything.
To get back to the main post though–I just did the holiday event for the first time in probably like 10 years. I got that Pepe pet. Is this the only “new” thing this year?
From my understanding on how loot drop works in wow this isn’t correct. As it is always the same drop chance.
My point about these stats is even if it is 63% after 100% runs that leaves a huge chunk that run it over 100% and do not get it. The rng itself is flawed
There’s no system that really changes that, as organizing reduces turnover of people who the items, so the number of people that could use the items as upgrades goes down with time.
Compared to a pug, where it’s almost always at nearly 100% of the raid is there because they want an item. In guilds, farm runs help gear up the less geared players, because people know that makes the team as a whole stronger. Not like in a pug where it’s all just MEMEMEME.
It’s correct for any system of independent Boolean events with a fixed probability, of which wow drops are one (it either drops, or it doesn’t)
Yes but that is my part of the point I am trying to make. You can’t really make sure you get it regardless of how often or how many times you do it.
What is the point in making items like that. AKA we need bad luck protection or it moved to the vender like the other items.
Also you avoid my big question, why ARE you here if you truly don’t care about this item? Does it really effect you in any negative way if a item you don’t care about is more fair for people who want it?
Like is there anything you can add to this conversation against OP’s point or reason for being here?
No it’s ‘‘I wanted it, I worked for it. And I ran out of time to get it due to it’s design’’
That isn’t weak or entitled. That is a very fair and valid debate to bring to the table.
If you can’t get a brand new event item, that is meant to encourage people to do the event. That many people statistically won’t get before the timer runs out or even years after what is the point in the item at all?
And why do people like you need to feel validated in making others feel bad for talking about it or thinking someone is entitled for wanting their time be worth something? we’re not asking for it for free, we’re asking to put it our time and get it if we worked for it.
And you avoided my question again.
WHY ARE YOU HERE IF YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE ITEM.
maybe upper case can help you freaking read.
(also edit) you know putting it on a vender or making the drop better is not hard at all for them right? Why are you protecting a billion dollar company that makes poor decisions for items?
If you can’t comprehend the difference between “let’s put this on a vendor for a boatload of currency for people to work towards,” and, “give it to me for nothing,” then you’re the problem here.
Two week holidays should be fun running boss fights and doing events and quests to earn currency and buy things. Not hope the RNG gods drop a stupid pet.
They are here because it’s a FORUM and they are disagreeing with your viewpoint and you’re making it personal for some reason which is just adding more ammunition to their disagreement.
Having rare items in the game is fine; in fact most games base their entire premise on the rarity of items. If you’re this torced off about it, clearly the rarity is working.
What I don’t get is why there are people like you who get so upset about not getting a holiday pet or mount that you yell and scream that it shoudl be just buyable. That completely defeats the purpose of the item being rare to begin with.
The item is cosmetic, doesn’t serve any purpose other than to be something you collected. I promise that its not worth making such a big deal out of it and I agree with the person who is disagreeing with you. Rarity for the sake of rarity when it’s not a combat or character progression item is FINE.
Acutally, I did put some effort into getting it and I didnt get it. I’ve been playing since BC and I still don’t have the HH mount either. I’m NOT UPSET AABOUT IT. I accept that I play a game in which many items are RNG-based and I get on with my life about it.
I still DO NOT GET why people are so tilted about this recycled ghost dog pet that already exists in other forms, this is just a freakin recolor. My guess is this must be some sort of generational thing.
And thats okay if you are not upset, other people being upset is valid.
Events come once a year, we can farm for other rare stuff all year long.
This pet was different, it’s not just a ghost dog it’s a healthstone card. I got it when my sister was in the hospital and I loved it so much I put it in all my decks, people like me have been asking for him to come to wow as a pet for YEARS.
If you want to farm for a mount for 10 years, not get it and be wow like that was worth my time thats wonderful for you. But people deserve to talk about limited time event drops being this rare and them being upset is valid.
There is no point in putting rare things in you can only work on once a year
But your’e making this huge leap in logic. I’m saying rarity is fine. I never said you somehow don’t deserve it; I’m only saying that non-character-progession items being rare has always existed and isn’t broken. If you can just buy everything on a vendor, even if its for a metric-ton of “currency,” then how special is this item, really?
It is broken, and it always existing doesn’t change that. Games are changing we have lives and shouldn’t have to run something on 10+ characters a day for 2 weeks and be fine if we don’t get it.
The item doesn’t need to be special, there is stuff that is special in this game and a event item shouldn’t be it. If someone wants to feel special they can do it irl or get some elite pvp gear or a limited time mount. Not a dog from a event that is just luck based.
We have pets and items for the hallows end event that just cost tricky treats, that system is not broken either. And it’s how they should have put it here.
I’m wondering if they’ll just move Arfus to the vendor then and then make another pet that is just as rare.
Just like the post above yours, the “love rocket” (Im surprised this wasn’t removed given how sexual it is) is also pretty rare and I’ve never gotten that one either in 19 years of playing.
I think that making items like this buyable would kind of spoil the fun of “oh well maybe next year.” I dont feel like it should be mine.
Case in point, I’ve been farming transmog in Nighthold and just got mythic guldan mount.
I was the last player who was suposed to get this when my guild was doing it but missed it b/c I was on a biz trip the week before the next patch went up. It happens, I guess I just dont get as upset about it.
I don’t feel like rare items we can farm for at any point are comparable to limited time events.
I have tons of rare things, tons of stuff anyone can go farm for at any point even if it takes a long time.
I don’t feel the same should be for event items, least of all items that are not mounts.
And when we pay 15$ a month on top of xpacks I think it’s insane to not update holiday events and when they do after years it’s something like this.
I normally don’t care, I get not caring if you didn’t want the item or it wasn’t important. But Man I farmed for this on a lot of toons and did everything right and didn’t get it despite hours of work.
You know how bad it is to waste time in a video game so bad you wish you went to work instead??? thats how i felt.
