Which isn’t really any different than what happens now, you’ll just get your rejection faster.
give it time blizz is going to ban it like they did that raid addon like dbm years ago that was cheap af…Big Wigs maybe or was it something else
Lmao imagine actually paying for that nonsense.
I assume it supports retail and SoD/classic? Or does it only support certain versions?
What does it even show? Overall? Ilvl bracket?
Only current raid? What about for retail where there is M+ as well?
Ratings change too, so when does it update? As soon as you submit a parse? Or after they finalise them for a day?
Like you can get a 90 for example and then get beaten by a bunch of people (maybe there was a class buff) and all of a sudden your 90 is now like a 75-80. Which do you get?
Either way, sounds stupid. If people care that much they can search online.
The only thing I can imagine happening with something like this is the rise of people making their characters hidden on WCL.
You aren’t really going to want to display your rating unless it’s at the least purple or better, and that’s like what…20% of people parsing.
It’s not stupid.
As with most addons, it is designed to save time, display relevant information and make a process easier. It does exactly that.
Instead of looking at a character name, tabbing out, and typing that name into a website, it now just displays the relevant info within your client.
Regarding your other questions, i assume it is configurable, given that it’s been created in collaboration with WCL admins themselves.
Im not certain on the paywall of it but i assume anyone who is paying for a WCL sub will be getting the addon for free.
Unless there is a seperate price for the current version?
If you’re willing to pay $25 a month to get that information so you can be a hardcore gamer, why wouldn’t you already be in a guild of likewise minded, and likewise skilled players?
Seems like a waste when a) the content is easy and b) you aren’t typically going to be parsing hard in a PuG that even if curated won’t likely be downing bosses in top parse times.
Maybe in retail when you might want a PuG mythic raid but… more than your subscription fee to the actual game? Let’s be real.
I think people pay a wcl sub to just have more access to info, those people will have the addon for free.
They are also making a free version.
The addon in question is in violation of Blizzards ToS in regards to Blizzard’s addons policies, I recommend people report the addon and anybody who uses it to Blizzard so they can take appropriate action.
It’s pretty funny seeing all the grey parsers around me after downloading the addon. Like I knew they existed but now I can actually see them in the open world!
Its no different than Restedxp.
that and Zygor should be likewise reported to Blizzard continually.
Any addon that breaks the ToS should be broken by Blizzard as long as it is possible to do so.
Idk if it breaks the tos.
“hardcore” gamers host pugs too, often a lot more than your average casual player, because they have lots of alts which also need to raid.
Anyway, please keep in mind i am simply explaining the addon to you, i will not be paying for this myself as frankly paying for addons is a terrible/toxic precedent to set.
As said above in a previous comment, based on discord responses from wcl admins it seems like there will be a free version of some kind, there are no further details at this time.
There is more to the Tos but I think the pertinent rules here are 1 and 3. Even if there is a free version the existence of a premium version is against the ToS.
Then there is rule 3. There is no doubt that the addon will negatively affect players experience.
But I thought you quit ? Yet you here are yet again making another forum post about SoD LOL no wonder the game is in the dumpster atm with people like you in the community
I havent played SOD in 2 weeks, that doesnt mean i cant see the wowhead news.
What does my post have to do with anything about the community?
Im not making the addon, im just sharing its existence.
While this definitely violates TOS by being a paid/premium addon, I completely disagree that simply displaying parses in game ‘negatively affects players experiences’.
This information is public and is simply being displayed in the client rather than the website, for convenience. The decision to bring someone or not would be exactly the same regardless, it’s just faster with the addon.
The ‘negative impact’ clause is very clearly referring to actual gameplay impact, such as performance issues.
You’re an agent of chaos.
That’s why I like your posts.
I have been pestering the mods on the WCL discord, they have confirmed the addon will be FREE in its final release.
There will be some kind of limit on the ‘depth’ of data available (his words).
It’s currently in early alpha/testing for patreon subscribers. There isn’t detail on the release schedule yet.
They can, but it’s against the ToS. So it depends if blizz want to enforce that rule. Btw it’s literally the 1st rule on addons lol.
