Waveshredders Are, Clearly, GNOME Tech!

There is a difference. It is mostly goblin tech. More diesel than Tesla punk. Rockets, exhaust ports and a rocket underneath.

Goblin tech is more Tesla coils.

Wave shredders were always more goblin. Anyone with actual understanding of the races technology can tell.

Wave shredders are 100% goblins. Don’t know why everyone is trying to fight it. Literally always was in game and lore.

I was referring to the TP.

Rockets and explosives aside, one of the staples of the Goblin motif is the celebration of a dirty/hasty appearance. The waveshredders don’t look like they were thrown together in an afternoon or made from salvaged scraps. There’s a lack of rough jagged edges, a sloppy/minimal paint job with either exclusively loud or battle-faded colors, or some depiction of a mean-looking face. These are all features that Blizzard is intentionally doubling down on for the upcoming Undermine-D patch. The waveshredders, apart form being machines, don’t match to them at all.

shakes head

What has happened to your Goblin heart? First let them think it is Gnome tech so the people that refuse to buy Goblin tech will buy it. Profit…profit…profit. Then when, uhm, if something happens Gnomes get the blame for having bad tech. This is profit in a destroy Gnome tech rep way. Which could lead to :moneybag: profit as people buy more Goblin tech.

All I am trying to say is, they look Gnomish to me

How is it gnomish? It didnt turn me into a leper gnome.

Because when it gets to that level of “care” that means they really love the machine when they put their face on it. The wave shredders are just surfboards that can fly. It’s for fun, there isn’t even guns on it.

Loot at our hot rods, they look the same. Now look at the machinery us goblins make with our faces in them. Decked out in weapons.

But the waveshredder is just a surfboard hot rod and our hot rods are clean looking.

Like the way you think!

The Goblin hot-rods, which have been rebooted for the next patch, do appear to avoid a fair amount of the features I listed earlier. However, they are oversized and sooty where the waveshredders are thin and clean. In my opinion, the thinness alone sets these machines apart from anything you’d find that was designed and/or built by Goblins, Humans, Dwarves, or Draenei. It’s a cute, lightweight little vehicle made by a cute, lightweight little race. Besides, I’m almost willing to bet money that, when the visual customizations for these new Undermine Goblin hot-rod/carts get data-mined or previewed, there will be at least one option where you can slap a mean-looking face on the vehicle somewhere. Perhaps some weapons or explosives too. Goblins can have violent ideas of what constitutes as stylish or fun, and tend to treat the subjects of safety and care more like a punchline than something to be taken seriously.

Gotta remember, goblins and gnomes do interdevelop technology as well. So the goblin waveshredder having some goblin themes is just par the course of wow because they both take tech from one another.

Let’s not forget, goblins also built the grimrail depot and that was clean looking as well. Goblins CAN make a clean look tech but sometimes they rush things as well and get the more goblin look.

Goblins also used to make half-dome buildings out of rock and clay, but those got pushed out at about the same time that the Grimrail Depot came in … fourteen years ago. Neither has been implemented since then.

Come on, man! What chip do you have on your shoulder about Gnomes getting credited on an item that harmonizes with their style and energy? You can argue the personal dimensions of lesser realized Goblin culture all day long, clearly, but mounts like these heavily clash with what MOST PEOPLE associate with this race when all is said and done.

The original Gnomes get next to nothing when it comes to new stuff. Heck, their own Heritage Armor questline had to rely on out-of-place Mechagon mobs just to tell the story. As I stated in the beginning of this post, the Goblin’s popularity landed them the overall theme for the latest Recruit-A-Friend reward batch EVEN THOUGH the Alliance player base doesn’t have access to a Goblin PC variant. Can’t you admit that, at least from a first-glance perspective, the title “Gnomish Waveshredder” seems to fit a bit more comfortably?

That is mostly because of the Orcs like living like that. Nothing to do with the Goblins.

Absolutely nothing, but the waveshredder is 100% goblin tech and for some reason you don’t want to believe it.

That sounds more like a you problem, I don’t see gnome tech when I see those waveshredders, I only see goblin technology. Rockets, big exhausts, huge fans. That is more diseal and rocket punk which is goblin and Gnomes go more for the Teslapunk style of machinery.

Really sucks for them but that isn’t a problem for Goblins. That is something the devs are on about. Also, mechagon is totally not out of place. Gnomes and mechagnomes being intertwined is kinda their thing

Again, that is a problem with the devs not liking gnomes. And no, when I see the goblin waveshredder, I only see disealpunk. Not tesla punk. When I see as gnomish stuff, I look at Mimrons head helicopter. The mount from King Mechagnon, Which I have. Huge electric towers or propelled by electricity, almost not exhaust because they use pure clean energy.

Now would I love more Gnome stuff? Yes, I love Tesla Punk stuff and I want to see Gnomes actually get more content as well. Mechagnomes are cool in theory but how blizzard made them in the game as an allied race is kinda lame.

I think that the original Gnomes are suppose to have their tech’s identity centered around Steampunk. Personally, I believe the allied race should’ve stuck with the title of Junker-Gnomes or something else that didn’t infringe on the legacy of their completely mechanical ancestors. Prince Erazmin definitely should have changed the title after his people claimed freedom from his obsessed father. Anyway, I think I’ve shared every relevant thought I have on this subject and should wrap things up before I diverge too far down the bunny path. Thanks for engaging me in this conversation.
