Water Strider

Thats the part thats irritating.
Yes, Im sure I have the gold…but lets say I didnt.
I dont care if others are getting WWing…any more than I care if they have easy access to anything I did have to work for.
But to screw with what I DID do the work for…THAT is the part that makes me never want to grind another thing out in this game.
And I wont.
Not when Ion and his wrecking crew can just remove, alter, etc and completely nullify the work we put in.
At that rate, whats the point?
so you all do the work to get pathfinder.
Lets say they just give flight to everyone next…but they screw with your favorite flying mounts in the process…can we not expect wailing and gnashing of teeth going on in here?
And theyd be justified in doing so…but the same people who WOULD be if THAT happened are pretending that WE shouldnt be irritated simply because THEY arent affected by this change.

makes me overjoyed that master loot was ripped away from them.

They are doing it with water walking, why can’t they do it for the honor mounts? Achievements? All rep rewards? Why are they special?

Yes I think it should be done. Add in a system that lets everyone get the honor mounts, Achievements, all rep rewards. If they can do it for one they need to do it for all. NO one should be treated special.

I think you took my words the wrong way, I was not being sarcastic I do think that in your case you have a valid point for complain that is not being addressed.

I think they could make it so the water strider is unaffected if you choose to not use any mount equipment and let you keep things like you have then now.

If that’s the case then I guess we both agree about the mount equipment thing being an overall good thing for everyone (well except for Liolang’s case which I agree is not being handled properly)

And we can just agree to disagree about everything else.

You can earn the waterwalking mount. Like right now. Your argument literally makes no sense. To me it sounds like you just don’t wanna work towards it and would rather be given it.

You’re playing the wrong genre friend.

It all would be a good thing, They just need to make a system where we can buy the “skins” of all mounts and transmog our mount to look like our favorite. They could more than likely reuse the mount equipment system with a few adjustments and every one can have their favorite mount anytime. and all rep rewards need to be able to be bought even if you don’t have the rep.

I’d be fine with that.

If someone wants a unique ability like the water strider has, they need to go EARN it. Not hard at all, especially with TW badges you can spend on rep.

I agree, it is very easy to get. And it is also a very useful ability. Which is why in order to use a comparably useful ability like daze immunity or permanent slow falling you have to choose to give it up. Otherwise everyone would just do the trivial grind for the WW mount plus have one of those other powerful abilities. Which they clearly don’t want. Not to mention we are all still stuck with the ugly bug mount for our water walking needs.

I agree, we can’t treat anyone special. Everyone should be able to go to the Anglers Vendor and Pay the same 40g for the water walking equipment. Everyone should be able to go to a pvp vendor and buy all the titles and pvp mounts. Everyone should be able to go to a vendor in each expansions main city and buy all the raid, dungeon and rare drop mounts and achievements for gold. No one should be treated any different than anyone else. I want those mounts and achievements and I should be able to just buy them.

I did the grind for the water strider. I think it’s a crappy mount and would never use it except for its water walking ability. I’m looking forward to the new system so that I can make other mounts that I do like water walking.

Not intending to argue with you - your opinion is just as valid as mine - just pointing out that you probably shouldn’t assume everyone in a group agrees with you.

If you want those 20 cars to have increased speed because you don’t need 4-wheel drive means you have to have speed equipment in your bag.
Then when you come to a field full of elite mobs, you may need to switch to anti-dazed because you hate getting dazed, there’s another piece of equipment in your bag.
Yikes, there’s a lake to cross! Now you need water-walking equipment in your bag (and if you have Angler’s rep you can only keep one in your bag, so you have to hope you don’t run into more water on your journey)

If your plan is to use the equipment as intended, then you do need extra space in your bags.

I agree with you. I have always sought out the special items, figured out how to grind them and spent time doing that. It was fun to put in the work and earn the reward. To have that reward taken away for no reason makes me question if I should bother with grinds in the future.

You are also right in that if blizzard cared about those who actually do the work in this game, they could have exempted the strider. But that does not fit their plan, so they refuse to even address the issue with the people who want their striders to stay as is.

The current troll in this thread is demonstrating a serious issue within the gaming community that continues to grow, and the main reason people are eagerly waiting for Classic.

He gets sadistic joy out of baiting people and keeping the discussion going in circles.

Blizzard’s decisions of late help precipitate this type of behavior in that they are pitting customers against customers.

What no one (blizzard or the troll) understands is the fact that there comes a point when their loyal customers will get fed up and end their relationship with the company. Many people already have.

WoW subs peaked at the launch of Cata at 12 mil, and have been dropping ever since. At the launch of Mists, they were at 10 mil., and a year into WOD they dropped down to 5.5 million. It was at that point they stopped reporting subs.

It was also at that point they added tokens so that they could boost the revenue they lost. Back when they were first introduced, they sold for about 25k, but towards the end of legion, they jumped to 222k, which really helped blizzard boost revenues.

My point is that as subs dropped, wow added a feature to shore up their revenue. This was a stop gap measure at best. I am sure that they are still leaking subs, Classic will help for awhile, however, if they do not change their thought process, there will come a point where the micro-transactions will not cover the loss of subs.

Except it’s not just that. It’s milk ALL THE TIME.

Milk in my coffee. Milk in my soda. Milk in my beer. Because ALL my drinks now have milk!

OR they all have orange juice in them instead.

yuck.

Stupid change for stupid reasons is stupid.

Or, alternately, set up different mounts with different pieces of equipment. I have a list of mounts as long as my arm which match my character better than does the water strider. I have so many ruinstriders or vile fiend style mounts that I could set one up with each type of equipment I want and then just switch mounts as needed.

Viola, no need for extra bag space.

Again, not a good example since milk in your soda is bad, having water walking on a mount it’s always better than not having water walking

And while the cost may be trivial… the trip to get them ONE AT A TIME (and there’s no mailbox particularly nearby so put those running shoes on you’ll be going back and forth carrying them one at a time).

I mean seriously.

Next up: Fire mages update: Now requires carrying ‘kindling’ consumable and ‘flint’ catalyst object to cast fire spells.

Tell that to all the people doing corpse runs because no one explained that they can ‘look down’ to dive into water while falling, and instead died when they hit the surface.

Would be great if it worked that way. But it doesn’t.

1 piece of mount equipment affects ALL regular ground mounts.

What they don’t yet realize, a LOT of folks will just use another method to water walk.

Myself, all of my toons will use the Angler’s raft. It still works for now, and doesn’t require the same rep that the now-useless strider does.

Edit:
If you have one toon that already got the raft, alts only need Pandaria fishing skill 1 to use it. It’s considered a toy now.

Sorry to be the one to tell you, but mount equipment is character bound. When you put on a piece of equipment, it applies to all mounts.
