I have always been free to use any mount I want at any point in time.
I use water-strider to walk across water.
Invincible to fly and since the model fits through doors easily.
AH mount for AH.
Yak for repairs/mogs.
Unique mounts with unique abilities have always been a thing.
This is one of the dumbest changes for the sake of changes they have ever made.
Find a DK, find a shaman, buy a water walking potion, use a priest to levitate, there are tons of alternatives.
The devs are honestly just clueless.

Pathfinder was mostly a good change in my opinion. My only chief complaint that it takes way too long to get it, about half or 60% in the expansion to where it wouldnât be needed as much unless you have a bunch of alts. But the account bound license to fly in the new zones was a welcome improvement, even if it wasnât free.
I farmed for my water walking for 2 to 3 months and they are taking it away from me for whatever reason. I, for one, have already talked with my wallet by cancelling my subscription until this policy is changed. I urge everyone to do the same.

Why is someone(s) bumping EVERY water strider thread?

However, you/I can equip the water walking item and act like nothing changed. I never used any of the other possibilities anyway, such as anti-daze. I will be trying the 20 percent speed buff one, since Iâm still not sure on what it does/doesnât stack with.
Cancelling your subscription doesnât change anything, since people cancel constantly. It isnât a method of âvoting.â
I cancelled my sub and they gave me a survey. In that survey, I told them specifically it was because they changed the ability of a mount that took 2 to 3 months for me to farm for. That sounds like voting to me. I spoke with my wallet, and I urge everyone else to do the same.

It doesnât appear to do anything, however, WOW makes the bulk of their money off of subs, so if enough people cancel their subs then it does change things. If you donât believe me, ask the former executives of places like Blockbuster, Tower Records, K-mart, etc. I am sure they could tell you what the loss of customers did to those businesses.

While you are correct in the fact that other mounts besides the ugly bug will be able to walk on water, that one piece of free equipment is a one time use only. Sure, you get discounts on more, but the fact of the matter is that it costs each time you switch. THAT is what Iâm not happy about. Now I will have to shell out gold for something that Iâve already earned through a rep grind.
Itâs not a huge deal in itself, but itâs another straw added to the back of an already elderly and arthritic camel that is a few straws away from collapse.

The only way one can âact like nothing changedâ is if the changes that Blizzard is making with 8.2 are LIMITED to Najzatar/Mechagon and you never go there.
If you spend any serious time in the new zones and/or if the changes coming with the new zones affect older zones⌠you will be dismounted so much more often that NO-DAZE will be practically mandatory until we unlock flying.
And afterwards, SAFE-FALL will be needed because weâre going to get dismounted while flying a lot more often too.
Water Walking is the -worst- equipment going forward because things are changing.
Because Ion is a jerk. This is HIS game dammit! You pay to play his game and if you arent having fun the way HE tells you too, then you are are playing the game wrong!
Why is it so hard for you people to understand this? Ion hates flight so no one should be allowed to fly. Ion hates the water walking that one mount has so no one should be able to have it. Ion probably gathers herbs to make gold so the sky golem and its passive benefit is ok because he likes that but he doesnt like that people can just walk over water. It makes his game feel small and less immersive so NO, you cant have it.

You also could jump into the water from a relative height without suffering damage that dismounted youâŚI am hearing that this is no longer the case as well.
AND if you are dismounted in water, is it true that you can no longer remount without leaving the water?
AND how is it fair that there should be any cost at all to our mains and alts, to use the strider, when there is none now.
Lots of nerfs going on here and I am not a happy camper. I am more and more inclined to think that it is simply not worth working too hard for anything in this game when they can nerf it, or remove it at the drop of a hat.
There is less and less reasons for me to put too much energy, focus, or time investment into this game.
Sadder and sadder since WOD and all the flying hate from the devs.
Lots of fun nerfing going on since then.

What did they take away? You will be able to water walk on the strider.
What they took away is the ability for many of us to ride/fly through zones without getting dismounted by the first slight hit.
Most classes (maybe all) are going to -need- the âno dazeâ equipment just to get back to ânormalâ.
And because you can only have ONE type of equipment slotted, that means very very few of us will have water walking equipped, and those that do will be severely handicapped in new zones. (and old zones if the change isnât limited to Najzatar/Mechagon).
Itâs a hella big nerf disguised as ânew featureâ.

Last I heard, the no daze profession buffs work in the new zones. Also, a lot of the water in the new zone is full of agro mobs so water strider doesnât even really work.
People are losing their minds over a tiny QoL change.
People are losing their minds over having something they earned being TAKEN AWAY.
If Blizzard had any sense left at all, theyâd leave the [Bleeping] water striders completely alone and, if they really really have to⌠just make them ineffective in Najzatar/Mechagon.

Iâm new to this topic and really donât want to read 300 posts and I have some questions.
So I have the Anglerâs rep and have the Water Bug. I use it a lot on all my toons. And so does my son on his toons (different WoW license; same Bnet Account). After the patch, what happens? The Water Bug loses water walking, but I can get a water walking mount enhancement. And because I have the rep, I get it for free. Is that correct? Will that apply to all my mounts on all my toons? What other mount enhancements are there? Can I have more than one? I saw something about daze resistance. Could I have water walking AND daze resist? Or do I need to pick one and then switch mounts to use the other?
It will apply to all mounts on one character. The character with the Anglerâs rep can buy more to send to alts level 20 or higher.
Anti-daze and parachute have been announced. I believe increased mounted run speed was also discovered somewhere but hasnât been officially announced.
Only one can be active on a character at a time. It works like gems. If you want to switch, the current mount equipment item is destroyed when a new one is used.
Nope. Well, you could use daze resist mount equipment with a water walking potion, but you can do that now with bardings and water walking potions.
Even this wonât work. The mount item equipment works for all mounts on a single character. Itâs character specific, not mount specific.
Also keep in mind that the water walking provided by the mount equipment is not as good in several ways as what is currently provided by the water strider. Mount equipment water walking will stop working if you take fall damage, unlike the water strider which keeps water striding even if you jump from a high place onto water and take damage. The water walking mount equipment also wonât work on the larger mounts if you try to use it while in the water. So if you fall, unmounted, off a mountain into water and want to use a mount to get on top of the water, best stick to the smaller mounts.

I like the freedom this gives me, as someone who likes water walking but despises the stupid strider mount.
Great! So youâve been using water walking potions instead of the mount you hate, right?
Because unless youâre always in TANK spec, thatâs how itâs gonna be for you from now on if you donât want to be dazed & dismounted every few feet.
