27 alts? It’s one thing to just have that many alts, but if you’re actively trying to play/manage them all, that’s pretty niche.
Even so, you can basically be done with your problem the first day this change goes live.
This change creates a need to manage them, or a problem as you put it.
1 or 1000, I think that’s backwards.
The real problem here isn’t that people are using water walking mounts disproportionately to other mounts.
It’s that we’ve had an obnoxious time gate on Flight.
No one would be looking all that hard for water walking if Flight had been allowed back into the game in a normal and reasonable time frame.
Since we can basically all agree they need to give the bug the same treatment as the robot which is take the equipment slot away so it retains its water walking ability but can’t use anything else I think it is time we as a community band together.
As a community we have shown that if we make a big enough stink Blizzard does listen Hati is an example when he was first announced as going away hunters and non hunters banded together as one to #savehati even Wowhead had it on the front page so it was big news and the end was hunters did get the good boy back.
So now I ask the community let us put our differences aside and as one speak up for the bug we can call it #sos, save our striders.
I bet if it works the same as it did for Hati then they will listen and not take away its water ability and treat it as same as the robot.
Ok, but you can be done with it in a day.
Really wish someone at Blizzard would clarify whether the ‘one free mailed to you’ is per character or per account.
If all my alts get one free, that goes a long way towards making this less of objectionable.
I’d still prefer the option to have water walking based on which mount I choose, rather than all-or-none having it always.
One thing I find odd is the WW equipment being available from a vendor in old content. Doesn’t seem like the way they usually do things.
It is almost like it would cost them money to give the tokens to all of the alts. One has to wonder what goes through their minds when they think up this stuff. Why would a business who relies on long term subscriptions seek out to annoy people who have been playing the longest. Very strange business model.
My biggest issue with the mount equipment is that Blizzard missed the opportunity to make something that could’ve been fun and interesting into something as boring as possible!
The mount equipment should be per mount or type of mount. As it is now I’m going to make my mounts water walking and be done with it. But if the system had more customization per mount or type of mount I could’ve seen myself going crazy with it.
The only problem I have with Mount Equipment is that they are going to be crafted with crafted professions. I gave up crafted professions in BFA because they totally suck. Now I can’t make any of the equipment. And I’m not going to pay a lot for them either. I guess it’s water walking on all mounts from Anglers for me and that’s it.
I agree with those who say it should keep it’s water walking ability…
But one thing I haven’t seen many point out, who is to say this new system will even last? If they remove water walking from the bug and then ditch the system in the future, then what? I have seen quite a few systems come and go in this game, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it disappears as well eventually.
I do think equipment could be a neat thing, just leave the water strider as is. Makes no sense for it to be dependent on an equipment item to walk on water when it’s whole purpose was that (and the mob versions will still be walking on water right?)
Even if it was per character - which I doubt, looks like the ability to purchase a discounted, account bound version would not be included if that was the case - there’s no reason to believe the equipment will still work next expansion.
Remember looterang? Blizzard doesn’t like crafted items being relevant in expansions past the one they are crafted in.
So once the innate functionality of water striders is removed we have no idea what it will take to have water walking next expansion.
- Will the old equipment still work?
- Will new equipment be purchasable?
- Will we still have equipment slots?
- Will they introduce another stage to pathfinder to earn back water-walking?
- Will water-walking be removed altogether?
When the game producers lose the trust of their customers, openly treat customers with contempt and introduce such uncertainties into the game regarding things players have earned/enjoyed, the game will inevitably disenfranchise and drive away players.
The problem goes deeper than just driving some players away. Many will stay because they have loved this game for a long time, buy they won’t be getting friends or family to play when they are not happy themselves.
The best advertisements for any product are happy users, and Blizzard is continuing to piss off users who were happy. The results are obvious in game. How many new players, new to Warcraft, not new alts, can be found in Warcraft now? I used to regularly give away bags, gear, pets and the trinket from the garrison mission table to newbies, but now there are no longer newbies to be found.
Backwards is backwards. How is this way of doing things good? How much time and what percentage of my gold would it take just to replace what I already have? At 1kg each it’s a fairly large percent for me. Much larger than 0, and again more of my time doing needless chores. Is there no other way? Why do i even have to ask these questions? Someone has a strider up their rear, or cant manage to do this me thinks. Changes like these are part of why i don’t play anymore.
If I had logged in on the free weekend what impression do you think I’d have if my waterbug couldn’t do it’s thing anymore? Then I learn I have to buy it for all my toons. The impression my brother and I got over other issues is bad enough on said weekend.
I think soon we will basically “have” to have it. They are making some from professions as far as I know. They don’t want people to “have” to grind old stuff either. It could be something else.
Having gotten a waterbug with water walking is the definition of immersion to me. Having this equipment that lets my dragon water walk but it still has flying amnesia is the opposite.
Why can’t they just make more themed mounts that can water walk and/or do other things? This is a more fitting solution IMO, but I don’t know their agenda here either.
They’ve already got that stupid boat which seems ready made for water ‘walking’, or any number of mounts that hover above whatever surface they’re on, like the Eastern dragons from MoP.
A duck would be funny.
Big and empty. For anyone who hasn’t been around since vanilla, hearthstones used to have a 60 minute cooldown, so they were largely worthless, aside from ‘get me to a safe place where I can log off’. Once everybody leaves because we have to slowly walk everywhere, it’ll be big and empty…
Like any flying mount should be able to right lol
Main problem for me is the fact it’s destroyed when you want to switch out to a new equipment. Yay you’re discounting it for me, but meh. Make it a toy or some such.
Uhhh yeah they could, because it’s precisely the same thing they did with the sky golem.
More likely, they’ll suddenly sprout a ‘Only works in Kul Tiras / Zandalar’ note, like the piloted combat mode in engineering’s Reaves, or the rocket helmet, or any number of other items. So technically you still have them, and they’ll still work, but nobody will be going to those old zones…
1200+ messages in this thread say yeah, it is.
