Water Strider Discussion

so the bots have more pathing freedom. obv.

Exactly what i was thinking, why should the water strider lose his ability to walk on water, like hey we know guys passed countless hours farming SUPER BORING fishing daylies for hours to have this mount, but we feel like it should go to waste, but good new you will save 20 gold on the item that make you walk on waterā€¦ come on blizz

mounts are account wide, iā€™d rather have the ā€˜no daze/unmountā€™ item on my mounts and when i need to cross water i just switch to the waterstrider for a moment.

it feels like like a hit in the nuts from blizzard to the people that farmed the reputation

No worries. I thought you may have misunderstood. Iā€™m out of likes, but hereā€™s a flower to match your dress. :cherry_blossom: Peace.

In that article it also states that it is at an extreme discount ā€œyouā€™ll be able to buy more of this item for a greatly reduced price as an advantage for those who already have the Water Strider.ā€ Now we donā€™t know if it is singular or not for the mailed item. If it is, I agree it is dumb. If it isnā€™t then that is hardly an issue.

THey said they want it to cost 1000g.

Thatā€™s still a lot for people with alts. I JUST dropped 522,500g on 120 heirlooms, 2 months after dropping 522,500g on 110 heirlooms, which was like 2 weeks before they announced the price drops on the 110 heirlooms. Iā€™m out of gold.

I do not have 20k to fund 20 water walking parts for my alts, and Iā€™m not going to farm gold halfway through the expac just for it. I have raid needs, and I pay for WoW strictly with WoW tokens.

i believe that was in relation to the end cost of the crafted items.

They said they want the normal equipment to cost around 1000 gold. That is before the discount. But I am agreeing with you that it would be dumb to not have it mailed to all characters, as I said in my previous post

They canā€™t price crafted things. Server economies are wildly different.

A crafted weapon on Proudmoore is like 2k. The same weapon is like 20k on Zulā€™jin.

Unless they make it crafted via ENTIRELY vendor bought items, they canā€™t price a crafted item;

EDIT: Hell, it took me almost a month to get Glyph of Stars back down to a reasonable price on Proudmoore. Some Tool inflated it to 1000g when KT/Zandalari released, it was previously like 20g.

So I hopped on my Scribe, crafted 80 of the glyphs, and slowly undercut myself until they were down to like 50g.

Repeated this every few days (cause I didnt have time to log on Maizou every day). Slowly I managed to get them back down.

Sure, I could have exploited people and made a decent profit, but Iā€™m not that type of person.

how about leaving everything that works alone!! and working on either new content or fixing some of the bugs in the game??? does this not make more sense leave the strider alone!!!

Inb4 transmog yak loses its NPCā€™s.

Iā€™ll be less annoyed if itā€™s mailed to every character on your account, and not just one. (since itā€™s a BoA item, you canā€™t profit from it).

However, I still do not agree with the decision. They need to give it the Sky Golem treatment. Water Striders should be able to walk on water, but not benefit from equipment, period.

If I want to walk on water with other mounts, I should have the option with equipment. Trust me, Iā€™ll gladly use it most of the time, because I hate the water striders.

But I should still have the OPTION, as I went through hell grinding the ANglers rep when MoP came out, and grinding Nat Pagle rep for the Red one.

Totally agree to that this should be how itā€™s done

The water walking mount equipment item is clearly going to say ā€œAllows water walking in Azeroth and BFA zonesā€

GG having to re-grind the water walking item pathfinder style with each new xpac.

i only skimmed through responses in this topic, but is this system intended to make the Dreadwake float?

If you use the water walking item, it will give all of your mounts on that character the water walking ability, except the sky golem, so presumably it will make the boat float, finally.

they can make an estimateā€¦ based on average prices across servers for materials.

The paragraph which youā€™re questioning, specifically references profession created items.

These items will be made by professions (e.g. Dazed from Blacksmithing) and can be replaced at any time. However, the item is destroyed when replaced. Judgehype announced that Blizzard thinks the price should be 1,000 gold .

ā€¦then go read the page that was taken fromā€¦

Blizzard estimates roughly that the price should be 1000 gold for items, but obviously the price may explode at launch, so wait maybe a few days before cracking

I grinded my brains out to get the water mosquito way back when and it was a necessary evil in/around water for accessing areas or world quests along coast lines. Iā€™m not emotionally attached to the big, goofy mosquito, just itā€™s utilityā€¦

Therefore, I have no problem with the new system. In fact, my ground mount of choice on most characters was the two player chopper. Slap in the water walking mod and I just got a two player water walking motor cycle. That to me is a win/win, with one small caveat ā€“ if I get aggro and attacked, that will make both players on the chopper lose water walking, but the mosquito worked the same way, if you got attacked you got dumped into the drink while still on the bug and had to dismount and fight, anyway.

One definite pro for Chachi ā€“ her ground mount of choice has been the Ratstallion since she got the 20,000 sightless eyes (I only used it on Chachi as a demonstration of my dedication to getting that rascally rat on that specific character). This new system will now allow me to create a mega awesome water walking Rat! /squeal.

Are people seriously going to put ā€œwater walkingā€ on their mounts after unlocking flying?

They will have to if they want to do M+ Siege or TD.

Instead of using a mount that had that ability and having the freedom to switch mounts, without switching mount equipment, now their game play is impacted unless they do.

This is yet another short sited decision by Blizz made with no real thought or consideration for itā€™s player base.

The only only way this is justified is if they send me a free water walking item to every single alt i make.

Otherwise i lose gold for zero gain

If I only had 20 toons. lol
