Blizzard is quickly becoming a running joke at our house, there are 4 of us that play WoW. So much we have began coming up with “Blizzards” like:
Players: We would like PvP vendors.
The Blizzard: Here are your PvE vendors.
Players: We would like new mounts that are not horses.
The Blizzard: Here are 50 recolors of horses , And a boat that don’t float.
The players: We would like leveling to mean more and be more fun.
The Blizzard: We will do level squish, since the Ilvl squish went so well.
I just can’t help laughing at Blizzard anymore. I Know, I know, it should not be a laughing matter but I just can’t help my self. And so I don’t forget the one we laugh the most at:
Some Players: Water Striders are OP.
The Blizzard: Yes they are, here ya go we’ll make all mounts walk on water.
I just popped into the EU forums, I can’t post put I like to read them somethimes.
If someone has access you might want to check out the thread NAT’S LUCKY COINS!
Poor guy is starting to farm the coins to get the crimson strider.
No one mentioned that it wouldn’t walk on water next patch.
If someone could warn him it would be a nice gesture.
It would be hypocritical of me to say I didn’t think it was better. If it wasn’t better, I wouldn’t sacrifice the functionality of my 2 water walking mounts for a 10% speed boost.
The speed boost has enough additional merit/value that to pick anything else would be sub-optimal.
I just really don’t like the cost I have to pay for it.
If they would have made it so the equipment is applied to each individual mount (rather than global, per character), it would have been better. As it is, though, it’s far worse.
Blizzard is so anti-convenience; it’s ridiculous. As has been said many times in many different threads, “Do they even play their own game?”
Or, alternatively, if they do play their own game, do they use cheat codes to circumvent the anti-fun measures they put in for the rest of us?
I’m still a strong believer that water strider should be treated the same as the golem and unable to use other mount equipment but can still walk on water. that way i can still have my water walking mount i earned, but still get the anti daze mount equipment to use normally when i dont have to walk on water.
You would be wrong. The Golems (both of them) have an innate anti-daze built in. You won’t be dismounted if you herb and a mob hits you, just like you won’t be taken out of form if you’re a Druid or Shaman doing the same thing.
The Golems also won’t be effected by equipment. They don’t have a slot.
I’d rather they leave the water strider as a water walker and not have it affected by the mount slot. I worked to get that mount specifically to have a water walker. Just leave it as a water walker and have it not able to be changed by the mount slot. It will be silly to have all these land animals suddenly walking on water.
I assume flying mounts will still be able to fly and we won’t have to get a flying thing to make all mounts fly. What is the difference with leaving water walking on the water strider, flying on the flying mounts, and anti-daze on the anti-daze mount? Or are we going to have a flying set of wings that we use per character and all these land bound animals can suddenly now fly?
I’m gonna say no. Not unless they added it in the PTR, because I just tried on live.
Non-tank spec, no “Resounding Protection” azerite gear… first attempt, I got dazed/dismounted ON THE FIRST HIT.
Subsequent attempts show that my mistweaver seems to have about a 25% chance per hit of getting dazed/dismounted when hit from behind. Seems to be the same chance on the Sky Golem as with any other regular ground mount.
Oh poppycock.
No insult intended, Warpstone, as I have a lot of respect for your posts, but Blizzard added Pathfinder after a huge drop in subs in the wake of their attempt to remove flying altogether from Draenor onwards.
Pathfinder is just a sneaky way to prevent us flying in current content, just as equipment is a sneaky way to remove water-walking.
Companies decide what they want to do, then their PR department decides what story they’ll tell to “sell” that decision. P.R. pap rarely bears close relation to truth.
Nah, see, you got that all wrong. The mount equipment system was just someone’s pet project that kept them employed for another 6 months whilst everyone else was jumping ship or getting canned. It has nothing to do with listening, especially to the community, which by my calculations and observations, appears to solely consist of me, you and a couple dozen people with alts.
It isn’t because they thought the bug was ugly and needed to get stabled to save our sensitive eyes from the ugliness, it’s because they did not want a single mount to have the waterwalking ability and the bounce effect.
So they devised this devious way of taking it from the water strider and making it seem, initially, that it’s a good thing.
If it took them more than a day or two to implement the mechanics for mount equipment, they deserve to be canned… it’s a shallow hack masquerading as a ‘new feature’.
It’s because they claim that players are “forced” to use the Strider over all other mounts because of the utility it has and they don’t want there to be a “wrong choice” when it comes to mounts.
So yeah, I’m in the “camp” of “I obviously wanted WW or I wouldn’t have taken the time to get the WW mount because it could, wait… Walk on Water!, so I’ll be throwing on those trusty floatie shoes and never leaving my Strider again!”
R.I.P every other ground mount.
I think they’ll get the message when they actually do see more Strider’s about than any other mount, which is simply not the case today.
They can’t leave the Strider as is and offer other equipment because they don’t want us to use WW, they are hoping we will all “choose” something different. I will not. I will use my Strider, and only my Strider, with his little floatie shoes since Blizz is all for breaking all his little, skittering feets.
If Blizz truly doesn’t want us to water-walk, then instead of this pisspoor equipment system they should just outright remove ALL items/abilities that allow that.
