Water Strider Discussion

How does that stack with the mounted speed buff from pathfinder 1? Or is pathfinder 1 buff already negated by the class and guild perks? (I certainly never noticed any difference before and after.)

Theyll figure it out when theyre filing the bankruptcy.

Pretty certain it stacks with BFA Pathfinder the same way that DK/pally/maghar speed boost does.

ETA: they do stack. I still presume that [Light-step Hoofplates] and [Open Skies], [On a Pale Horse] and [Heart of the Crusader] or whatever the paladin buff is are redundant to each other.

Yay 13 days later and we are STILL not happy about this change!

Blizzard want’s us trapped with one meaningful choice at a time, They want to make a gold sink and they want to slow us down to artificially enlarge the game. I GET IT. I GET what they are trying to do. I just wish THEY WOULD GET IT when we tell them THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT WAY! (sigh) I require cake.

Having given this more thought, there really are other things Blizz could do to get the same effect without messing anything up. They could create longer-lasting water-walking potions, for example, which alchemists could make and sell on the AH. Instead of lasting 10 min, they could last 8 hrs or more. Combined with the barding we have now, that covers everything one could want mount equipment slots for and negates the need for them.

If Blizz really wants to improve mounts, give all the flying mounts the ability to glide when in no-fly zones. That’s what I’d like to see.

Simply making the equipment on a by-mount basis, and making it account-wide would alleviate so many issues while at the same time giving players agency and choice over the mounts they choose to do whatever function is available via equipment.

No. They are using that as the “reason” but in reality they know that only ~50% of players even have a strider and that they aren’t used nearly as often as they are claiming.

They are doing this because they tried to make the Azure Strider only usable in Panda Land and the Crimson one only usable on Draenor only to have the same kind of backlash they got when they tried to remove flight.

This is their way of saying “we’re getting what we want no matter what” just like Pathfinder was.

They are hoping we will all equip no-daze or slow fall or some other equipment and not use WW at all, which was their intention to begin with… No WW at all.

Hypthetical “Waah!! BUT…” … "Then people would use the flying mounts ALL the time and the ground mounts would get no love, and waah waaaaah…

What I’d do is:

All flying mounts have slow-fall in no-fly areas.

All “Armored” ground mounts have no-daze protection.

All ‘non-armored’ regular ground mounts have 20% Ground Speed Boost that stacks with ANYTHING

All water mounts, swimming striding, mounts that look like they have water in their theme (marsh wallows, turtles, frogs, etc) … ALL can travel ON or IN water at +20% regular ground speed. They get no speed boost on land.

Solved and done.

And here we have yet another example of a more creative solution than what Blizzard is instituting. It’s a pity no one from Blizzard will read it.

Soon there will be minor mount equipment:

Gathering
Commune with mount making you into your mount so someone can ride you.
Vender kitten - Keep a tiny kitten vender on the back of your mount at all times.

All of which will destroy even more mount abilities…muahhaahahahhaahahah

Can I work at Blizzard now? I want a paycheck.

Me neither. If you think about the last 3 xpacs, the majority of the questing are in areas that don’t really have a ton of water to cross.

WOD only really had Talador and one river in shadowmoon, so the only time it would be used was if you wanted to try crossing the ocean from one zone to the next.

Legion also really didn’t have zones where the strider had to be used a lot. I used tons of goblin gliders in Stormheim Highmountan, and gliding to Suramar. The only time I needed the strider was when there were quests out in the water in Suramar, or crossing some of the rivers in the other 2 zones.

BFA, on the horde side, you only need it for Nazmire, and there is actually a pretty easy land path that doesn’t have too many mobs, so you’re not stuck to it. on the Alliance side, you really only need the strider to cross the bay and some of the streams, but again there are routes you can take if you “hate the bug”

Wonder why they don’t feel the same about the under water mounts, or the sky golem

Give it time, with the sky golem keeping it’s anti-daze it will soon become the go to mount for land, and then we will be using the wrong anti-daze mount. And they will nerf it. As for under water mounts I don’t doubt we are somehow using them wrong and become so OP they will make it mount equipment, since mammoths can now walk on water they should be able to hold their breath and swim also.

If they have anti-daze protection while on a sky golem then it’s probably because they have the ‘Resounding Protection’ azerite trait on one of their pieces of gear.

Pretty sure that mount has no special daze/dismount protection at all, and (obv) wouldn’t get it from mount equipment either.

Because they only travel at 160% jogging speed or something. It’s pretty slow compared to the 220%-ish regular ground speed (with mount up+bfa pathfiner)

This. Never quite thought of it that way but it is exactly right on.

I believe you’re right, so scratch what i said. I was wrong about golem having anti daze. Either way they still have no reason to nerf the water strider. They want us to do pathfinder to appreciate and experience their hard work but they don’t appreciate the work I did during MoP getting the water strider. My self I will probably just put in anti daze, use goblin gliders and water walking potions and completely forget about mount equipment. It’s not that I don’t “appreciate” the time and work you put into the mount equipment, I’m just going to treat it like you treated my time and work getting the water strider and not care.

Blizzard is not being “silly”. They are being sneaky and trying to convince you the mount equipment is “better”. Which is not true. On the PTR the strider with equipment does not work the same way as live.

This mount equipment will not work in the next expansion. You will need “new” mount equipment. The tool tip will be changed to “only works up to level 120”. Anyone who thinks this will not happen is kidding themselves. Blizzard has done this type of thing time and time again.

Why does it matter what mount I use. And tough s h i t if someone didn’t bother to get a strider.

I’m extremely irked that something that I put in the time to get while it was current content is being taken away.

I earned it and want it to stay a WATER WALKING mount which is the entire reason I put in the time and gold in to get.

Leave it as it is in on live WITHOUT an equipment slot.

If not then I’d like ATOC removed or just give it to me or let me buy it because I don’t have it for every raid and I feel slighted. After all, doesn’t everyone get the same d a m n trophy? /s

Blizzard is conning you with this fantastic new equipment. This is only being done to slow the game down in the future.

Why would I want to pay ANYTHING for something I already have.

I’ve done some poking around on other forums to see what people think about the impending strider nerf, and overwhelmingly, the feedback is negative. Sure, there are a few trolls and Blizzard employee sockpuppets that weigh in about how great it’s going to be, but for the most part, people are not happy about this.

And most players don’t even have a clue yet that this is coming. Once this goes live, these forums (and others) are going to be a fecal storm.
