Water Strider Discussion

They would still be able to partake in the equipment system, the equipment just wouldn’t work with the water strider. So if I choose my mount equipment to be anti-daze, my other mounts would benefit from that, but when I use the water strider, it won’t. Which is still kind of screwy because my mounts that can fly are still going to be able to fly when I use equipment. It stands to reason that a water walking mount should be able to continue water walking even with equipment, but I would be okay with a compromise where it can’t but the other mounts can still have equipment.

That’s the point I’m making. It excludes a mount skin. Is that other mount that’s keeping its perk also excluded?

As far as I am aware, the Sky Golem keeps the ability to pick herbs while mounted but will not benefit from any type of equipment.

That might be fair then. The only difference I see is that water striding is a movement perk and they might want to restrict people from being able to infinitely override the need for the water walking equipment.

We got the water strider a few years ago, so we’ve been able to do this ever since then. Flying is a movement perk. So they should take away the ability to fly, because they don’t want you to be able to infinitely fly without having to use equipment.

For all the people claiming having more than 1 of the mount equipment is overpowered, all I gotta say is “Wait till they get a load of me!”.

Blood DK
Anti daze = tank spec
Water Walking = DK class perk
Faster Mounted speed = DK class perk
And I can add glider as a mount equipment.

I guess maybe the overpowered comment doesnt fit at all

Well, they did take away the movement perk of flying and then gave it back to us with Pathfinder.

And yes, the need to remove something would necessitate having added it beforehand.

Until they prune the dk skills away, which is a very realistic possibility. I can also see them doing away with the built in tank anti daze for all classes.

It’s bigger than that though. Once they move the skills to a token, you lose the freedom of using the skill where and when you want to. They now control where the token works. What if…

“Greetings Citizens of Azeroth! Nat Pagle and his crack team of genetic modifying goons have now discovered that the water strider ability has been fixed to make it better! Now, you’ll need a token for each zone you want to use water walking in. Heading to EPL? Grab the schnazzy EPL water walking token!”

Or…

“Hello denizens of We-Hate-Playersoth! We’ve just decided that if you want your mount to fly, you’ll need a flying mount equipment token, available now on the Blizzard store, or on various in-game vendors for only 100 FACTION BUCKS.*”

  • FACTION BUCKS now available on the Blizzard Store.

They didn’t remove the ability to fly. They made you work to get it in new zones. Sort of like how people had to work to get the strider. Your flying mounts still fly everywhere else and continue to fly once you finish Pathfinder. From here on out, water striders will not be able to walk on water everywhere else, nor will they be able to walk on water in new content unless equipment is used. I mean, come on. It’s a water strider. The mount was created specifically to walk on water.

Well. To be fair, the work was the leveling process before they added more work.

I suppose they think flying is more important in outdated zones than water walking? Especially since some zones were designed with flying in mind.

It doesn’t seem like they’re going to add flight as a mount equipment piece, just from what I’m inferring. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

This seems a little paranoid. WoW hasn’t ever added store stuff that’s anything like this.

Maybe not. Then again, there was a time when adding everything to the GCD was such a far-fetched idea, that they literally made a joke out of it.

“We’ve added an equipment item that is zone-specific for flying. If you want to fly in Outland Nagrand, you’ll need to be revered with the Orcs there, and then purchase the token in order to fly in that zone. This is a consumable item. LULZ JK APRIL FOOLS! (but for real it’ll happen in a few years.)”

Not yet, anyway …

True, but the actual ability of your mounts to fly is still intact. Flying mounts were made to fly and they still can. Water walking mounts were made to walk on water but now they can’t unless you add equipment. And if they can do this, it’s just a matter of time before flying moves to equipment as well.

I suppose I don’t think that saving the water strider is the answer to this, lol.

I totally agree, and this is just one aspect of their new attitude of “control all the things.”

One of my first comments when they uttered the words, “portal room” was:

“Yo. We’re losing control over where and when and what level we can use portals. They’re going to lock these things down and either phase or level lock them.”

Everyone said I was being silly and that it was going to be amazing. Whelp. Here we are with our amazing new portal room and it’s about as unfriendly to alts and travel-freedom as you can possibly get.

The practical result is - I haven’t bothered with any other ground mount for going on six years now. That’s definitely not good for the game, this change is overdue.

And who’s fault is this? I use the strider when I need it. Other than that, I’m on a mount of my choosing. Self control shouldn’t be regulated by Blizzard.

Quoted for Truth. I dont understand people who go I am so weak I only chose one thing, so everyone else has to change to fit me.
