Why would they want to give us MORE things, when they can just take something away and disguise it as “freedom”? Freedom from the horrible tyranny of the water strider and its free water walking ability!

I disagree. It seems we are falling further and further away from every class being unique. Every class used to have unique abilities that no other class had. Shamans have a Water Walking buff to place on people, same with DKs. Professions used to be unique as well, now Zandalari Trolls have a “glider” racial, there’s also purchasable gliders for people w/o engineering. Now with this new system, literally everyone can have a glider, and everyone can have Water Walking. The Water Strider was unique, which I am/was fine with when it came out. It still required work to do, which is acceptable. It just seems completely out of no where, and completely pointless to add these things in to the game. The game is in a terrible position, arguably the worst position of all time. Classes need to be looked at and redesigned. More ACTUAL class abilities should be added back to the game. I’m sure there are players that do like the new heart of azeroth abilities, but I’m not a fan of them. Everyone will have the same abilities. That’s not fun. That’s not unique. It completely avoids being fun and unique. Isn’t this what a MMORPG is supposed to be, different classes having abilities for different situations and being able to sometimes share those abilities (Path of Frost/Water Walking/Slow Fall), thus creating a feeling that every class is needed in some way? Obviously this is a small thing in comparison to the real reasons different classes are needed in different scenarios, but you get the idea. Now if they added new mounts that can “slow fall” / daze free, like the Water Strider being able to walk on water, I think that would be really cool and different.
TLDR; Adding “mount equipment” and having them do literally the same exact thing as engineers, and DKs/Shams (things already in the game) is pointless, and honestly makes no sense whatsoever. How this was even brought up and actually CONSIDERED in a meeting for new (lol) content? I just don’t get it.

Well, if you’d seen my other posts in this thread you’d know I’m against the water strider nerf, but not opposed to a system which would allow mounts to have abilities. Claiming that the water strider is so “OP” as to be mandatory is ridiculous, IMO. So I think we’re agreeing?

you know… lets make this tread as big as the portal one, this all couldve been avoided if they left water strider alone… i mean i dont have it but i see why the ones that have it are angry, they worked for it, paid for it, the same bloody reason the golem was left alone, for all of you trying to convince the rest that they should just bend over and take this without lube…
they are taking striders ability away, they couldve left the effect on the strider and let us have the option of buying the equipment for a different pet or keep using the strider but no, at this time this is more like a power move than something for our convenience so NO, they deserve this S!@tstorm i say.
i really welcome the changes for the mounts but i can see and empathise that the player base is tired of the devs taking away stuff so its going to react badly no matter what and the only way to make us heard is creating a clusterfrak.

More people were playing the game previously than they are now; they were given more freedom to ‘choose their own adventure’, with dungeons and raids often filling the time, and various other side activities like mount farming, transmog farming, forming groups to do achieves and pvp, rep grinds were there too, as well as dailies.
The main difference is the amount of RNG that now exists in the rewards, not the actual activities people are doing. Instead of a paragon box, you would just have that mount listed available for purchase once being exalted.
Ditto for flying and a mount that can walk on water.

Really? Because in WoD they were going to keep us grounded even though it was hugely detrimental and a massive failure. The only reason they changed it was it literally was responsible for losing 7 digits of subscribers…

i agree with the part that we should have actual class abilities, plus my dk alt is crying in a corner now.
It doesn’t negate the fact that you want us to spend more gold on something WE ALREADY HAVE on all characters, instead of having to purchase again for alts. This escaping people that say it solves everything just blows my mind.
I shouldn’t have to pay for something I (and many others) not only grinded for but already paid gold for. The amount is neither here nor there. Keep the Strider alone and let it not have any other equipment able to be used for it. Stop breaking things that aren’t broken.

I bet 1M gold that the new ability to walk on water with mounts will work the same crappy way the water strider does now. half the time is just sinks when you get to the water. But, they have known about this bug for only 5+ years and still refuse to fix it. Now we get to sink with all out mounts.

I’m a little indifferent to this but I’m curious though: wouldn’t this change just switch which mount becomes the “go to” mount? Pretty sure you can just put water walking on and at that point, the repair/vendor mount becomes the major mount. I get that this is supposed to provide options but in reality, does it? Any mount with an extra ability will automatically be the new water strider.

This change cements that the current diablo B team doesn’t respect players effort and time they put in this MMORPG anymore.

It’s for all mount so you can have one piece of equipment per character.
And if you want to change it you lose it across all mounts until you rebuy and apply it again.

Looks like tokens sales are down they needs more scams to get people to spend gold. 1 mil 2 mil 5 mil mounts isn’t fast enough.
