Yeah that’s a MASSIVE part of it.
This isn’t true at all because they’ll sit afk in dornogal for shuffle/blitz queues for HOURS.
This will not fix anything and would be significantly worse.
Nah. This just discourages group/mmo content even more.

Yeah was meant more like morphine for an hemorrhage.
the intern is busy with the sick racial tuning in 11.0.7 instead of hitting black arrow with a 250% damage nerf
“watched Venruki’s latest video”
There’s your problem.
as far as im concerned if arena participation is going down when people are being given alternatives to gain conquest / rated rewards then that just means no one was intrinsically playing arena and its just a cbt mode with an insanely insanely steep learning curve that 99.99% of casuals would never touch and not an inherently good game model other than for the 0.01% of players who got their adrenaline high in the hottest game in their childhood world of warcraft which is now super outdated compared to other more innovative and enjoyable game modes but refuse to let it go because they had a lot of fun in 2008
now say that louder for the people in the back
Yet blitz is even worse
participation numbers beg to differ unfortunately
blitz is an infinitely worse game mode that caters to the worst players alive
A snapshot of participation is useful data for other metrics, but isn’t a qualifier for possible causes.
Current PvP requires too much investment to pick up, the waits between ‘accessible’ bouts are ridiculous, and when you DO gear up and get into a match there is zero zero zero (0) feedback as to what exactly is happening.
A modern version of arena pvp would need to take cues from its peers: different games are different but if I can get into a game instantly in OW2, or if I can see what’s doing what in Diablo, or if I can train and practice on bots in LoL, or if there’s a seasonal reward track win or lose to incentivize trying new things out (battlepass) then why would I not expect the same convenience from an industry titan?
Ideally, fixed arenas would have:
Tldr what we need is WoW: Arenas, it’s own title.
Question: When people thought of solo queue originally did any of you ever think of anything other than normal 3’s but with like an automated LFG? I was caught by surprise with the shuffle format. Never heard of anything like that mentioned until it was announced.
dont worry we have the secret tech called kidney shot on our side now.
Not even close
I understand your point sir but if I wanted to play Space Marine 2 with my buddy, we would both just log in and get chainswordin
If I wanted to play arena pvp with him, he would need to level to 80, gear up, and learn 20 years of class quote unquote design just to be competitive, much less successful.
It doesnt need to be this way. But it undeniably is. The barrier to entry is hardly worthwhile, especially so when the only real reward is often more frustration
Oh, seems like we have forgotten that Shadowlands S4 was basically dead, so before soloq made it into the game.
No modern game can survive without a system to queue solo!!
I just finished leveling my horde monk in 1 afternoon, and I’m almost done with his bloody tokens and honor gear.
Shadowlands was dead for terrible game design, not because there wasn’t soloque
And I am very pleased for you. How does that help my hypothetical new friend and our present discussion of barrier to entry?
1 afternoon is too much investment?
I don’t even know how to reply to you.
Like I already listed THREE solid arguments for why the barrier to entry is too high and your knee jerk reply was to just say ‘no i can do it in an afternoon’
I’m not taking about you? I’m talking about if I wanted to get someone into wow arena pvp. Like you know how you get a buddy to join a game with you?
No, he would not be 80 in an afternoon. Because normal people don’t do it like that. And even if they did, you didn’t address my other points? Gear for one and game knowledge for another.
And come trundling thusly with your obvious ‘well acktually it’s so easy to gear up now’. Yes it is easier but that’s still just more time not playing the thing you want to play. It’s another barrier to anyone interested, whether you can get bloody coin epis in an hour or not.
You have seemed to be rather open minded on these forums. I didn’t expect such a lazy contrariaism out of you. It’s disappointing.
unfortunately the core problems with pvp won’t be fixed because it would need a top down redesign of classes that would go counter intuitive to mytic+ game play.
better reward loops, maps, etc would all be temporary band aids to poor and unfun gameplay
