I really wish people would stop replying to this nonsense thread for this reason. Why accept this charade that their arguments are in good faith, when they’re clearly not even about lore? There is no point talking with people who won’t just say what they mean, and instead talk through dogwhistles and code.
Bonus fun: the Light is poopoo and this is me blatantly insulting the Light. All followers of the Light are equivalent to the Scarlet Crusade, the Naaru are a menace to the cosmos, Xe’ra’s disassembly was quite nice. I hope we destroy the Light like we put down Zovaal, and Sargeras, and many more.
Naaru are very sus. Never trust anything that doesn’t have a face.
I’m only half joking. A lot of the more recent Naaru characterizations have an undercurrent to them.
We had Xe’ra and all her issues.
We had the AU Lightmother, who is probs Xe’ra again.
We had Z’rali in Shlands, who personified a wrathfulness we hadn’t quite seen in Naaru before.
And even Saa’ra, who helped raise-surrect Calia. A lot of her dialogue regarding Calia is… a bit weird.
Side note, I always found it interesting that Naaru are synonymous with Light despite being able to bounce between Light and Void.
Naaru can be Dark Naaru, or even full on “Void Gods”.
You’d think with entities that can be either extreme, they’d have a more middleground normal state.
Side side note, it’s kinda funny that Void God < Void Lord.
The Light continues to be “good” even after Blizzard has subtracted consciousness from cosmic forces, making them neutral.
It’s a very strange conversation for me to deny the countless benefits that the force of Light brings to our characters, the mortals. And, in addition, denying the countless benefits that Light entities also provide to us.
It is possible to theorize that the Burning Legion did not cause even more harm precisely because of the great opposition of the Army of Light, which only existed due to Xe’ra’s personal attitude of ensuring that evil like this did not spread throughout our universe. It’s impossible not to recognize the great good that Xe’ra has done for the universe and for us.
The Light was presented to us at the beginning as a holy force and, later, as an extremely beneficial force that, depending on its user, could be used for evil, as we saw with the Scarlet Crusade.
However, the rule still remains and always deserves to be highlighted: that Light is a beneficial force.
The Light like any other force is what you make of it. Player character Shadow Priests aren’t automatically evil and the Light-Wielding Scarlet Priests are sure no exemplars of Good.
And have you visited the Ember sector of Revendreth lately? Or played the Mag’har opening scenario?
The Light is Order under a different name, and Michael Moorcock went to great lengths to show how unrestrained Order can be just as Anti-Life as unlimited Chaos.
Run out of arguments so you’re just using denials, I see.
The fact that you have no arguments, just puerile personal attacks, says it all.
And yet you’d get triggered if accused that your extreme perception filter has made the Light into your own perverse representation of Christianity, so you take any portrayal of the Light being virtuous to be a personal attack on your irreligious beliefs.
Then when called out you’ll slink away until someone says something pro-Christianity or objectivism or against atheism or subjectivism and then do this dance until you slink away again.
There’s at least as much evidence for that accusation as for yours against me.
You’re so desperate to ignore facts I presented you’re spewing puerile personal attacks to try and drown them out.
That’s not the issue and you know it. The Light is a force aligned to Order nothing less, nothing more. it’s a neccesary part of the Azeroth’s cosmology just as all the other forces are.
Order without Chaos is an unmoving unliving stasis.
Chaos without order is an eternal churning with no basis for life.
It’s the individuals that USE these Forces that detrmine the character of the result.
You’re the one that for some unimaginable reason turned this discussion into a soap opera of perceived persecution by linking Blizzard’s Light with your version of Christianity and decided to dogwhistle anyone who dissented. It’s pretty much all on you.
I know what I was doing and I stand by what I said. We disagree on what the light is and what it stands for. You just need to stop taking it as a personal attack when someone disgrees
See, this is why you get mocked and deservedly so. When you can stop with the petty insults, than we’ll talk. I haven’t insulted you, yet here you are, being a damn child because someone disagrees over an entirely fiction cosmic force
