Money->token->list on AH->hope it sells->get gold earned from in game->buy stuff that will not give you an advantage over those playing the game normally.
It’s a win win win for all parties so not sure how any one gains more then another from this system. Blizzard gets $5 more for 30 days of game time, that’s about it for gains.
Everyone loses. Because it encourages degenerate behavior in the community. It also completely removes any sort of sense of accomplishment, since anyone with a credit card can get the same (insert whatever here) with one swipe.
I think overall it’s good. A lot of poor players can play the game more for “free” by farming gold than they would normally be able to afford. In our guild we use the token sometimes to stock the guild vault. We can venmo money to one of the players who stocks up flasks and stuff like that.
I think it has its positives and negatives as you pointed out. I think overall the problems it solved were bigger than the problems it’s caused. But not by a huge margin. That’s just my opinion though.
Semantics again, my definition of p2w is being able to buy power with real life money. Any game that lets you spend money to progress your characters power is p2w to me, some games are worse than others wow isnt too bad… also in shadowlands it 100% gave me advantage most of my friends couldnt afford legendaries upgraded on alts whereas i could. Because 2 legendaries was like 200k for thr first month or so…
So if wow didnt let you buy power with real life money i wouldnt think it was a p2w game.
This doesn’t make any sense really. Nobody is going to skip 3 days of work and forgo income to level a character. If they’re going to level, they’re going to do it on their free time, when they’re not working.
Similarly, nobody is going to realistically take on extra hours to “afford” a boost.
People are already working the hours they need to live. For salaried people, you make the same whether you stick around those extra 2 hours or not, and for hourly people, you can’t usually just add extra hours whenever you want.
And it is highly unlikely you can go out a get a second job just to work enough hours to make $60. They’re going to want a commitment to at least a part time schedule, where you’re going to work 20 hours per week or whatever.
Notwithstanding, any extra hours worked takes away from “free time” where you would actually be able to play.
I get why people are trying to figure out what their time is “worth”, but in practice nobody is ever actually taking up more hours just to buy a boost.
If they can’t afford the boost, or don’t want to buy one, they’re going to play the video game in their free time, like they are already doing.
Your upside is wrong blizzard makes more money off WOW does not mean they put more money into WOW obviously. Broken servers and bugs this expansions feels like a barebones team is working on it.
I pay money for gold, i use gold to buy better item or enchants on market place i wouldnt be able to get otherwise cause i have no gold.
Its because there is no actual definition for P2W, its a new acronym recently created to describe games and in game shops with real money effecting the game. Words take a while to have a basic standard meaning. Some people take it literally others dont. I dont know if you are snorting copium or if you are being dense here lol. Not sure what is so hard to understand, what are you defending.
Most people are okay with it because it helps support the game financially. So i am not sure why you are so iron glad in being bad faith.
Link them, prove to me that profits are directly going into shareholders pockets and there is no increase in investment into the wow team. Cause you wont find it.
Dragonflight had twice as much developers, that means they are investing in the game. You cannot deny that.
