Here is my venting. Was stuck on Putricide normal last night for almost 3hrs. I used to pug this in 2009 with dial up and never wiped this much. Everyone says players are better nowadays but is this really the case? Lol
My experience in classic has been priests meleeing with staves, tanks don’t monitor healer mana, dps don’t use threat reduction talents or give tank time to establish threat, healers afk between heals rather than be any form of productive, but that’s my retail bias, when I heal i at least wand/dot or drink before combat starts so I don’t hold the group up. Plate dps just wondering off and making their own pulls then wondering why the healer is oom because they are softer than a wet paper towel. Hunters following hunter stereotypes to a tee. Nobody decurses/cleanses or buffs anyone, asking a mage for water as a healer in a dungeon is like asking for a tax break from the IRS. In general expecting people to push their buttons and do stuff is a chore in classic. I’ve only done dungeons up to 60 so far though so I haven’t played end game in WOTLK.
Here is my take, right or wrong:
In OG Wrath – they didn’t hand out raid gear like a pez dispenser to anyone who could login. So the baddies who think they are good because they are wearing a non-earned raid gear think they can go in and beat the boss.
They don’t need to do mechanics - they were not taught mechanics. Level to 80, buy gear of AH, run some dungeons and get raid gear, buy your way into a GDKP (where you are carried) come out ready to raid - except they are not raid ready.
This kind of matches how life is now where everyone is expecting to be handed things.
Yeah it’s crazy, I mean there were bad players back then mostly because they were new but I get players who are as high as 5700GS who don’t know what Focus Magic is, don’t buff you or know simple mechanics… I asked a mage to swap FM multiple times and he was putting it on the fury warr. This is just one example
with a 30% buff normal icc will be as brain dead as naxx… maybe prebuff naxx
Try asking someone to interrupt something… oh boy
They most certainly did. They were called welfare epics for a reason. Wrath was the start of “seasons” in wow where the next raid tier invalidated the tier before it and there were mechanisms that let you get higher iLvl gear than base line heroics. It’s certainly easier to get ICC ready with scourgestones, but make no mistake that you could have the iLvl of a TOC raider without ever stepping into a raid.
Only when they can have weakauras play for them.
Someone mentioned. There was a buff that was added to help PUGS beat the boss back then
The general playerbase is better overall but that doesn’t mean you won’t get stuck in a bad pug occasionally. This is also week 1 and there’s no zone-wide buff yet.
There’s also the fact that a lot of folks playing classic either never did ICC at all, or did but never got far into it. Lots of pugs just did 4/12N back in the day because they couldn’t handle the rest of the instance. So this is new content to them. And let’s be real, there are a lot of folks that go into raids blind without any knowledge on these encounters. That’s never changed.
Meanwhile I was in a dedicated raid group back in 2009 where just getting past Deathbringer was an accomplishment even by the time the 30% buff had been implemented. Last night my raid group was able to clear up to Putricide in a little under 3 hours, with breaks, with several people having never even seen ICC before, and we’re about as casual a group as it gets
Point being, on average yeah I’d say players are much better than they were back then, but there are still bad players too, and the bad players are baaaaaaad…
you’re gunna have to wait for the icc buff we get later for those vibes. even if everybody does putricide mechanics perfectly, the last phase is a dps race so some groups who were lenient on gear wont cross that finish line. at least right now, the buff we get later will fix that.
In your headcanon the bad pug player somehow raid with gdkp get gears and then go join ms/os pug raid? Cool story bro.
It makes the warriors cleave more magical and intelligent: smiley:
Thanks – It is a cool story and true to.
Nice 21 posts on your toxic alt btw
No you could not. You could not run +'s and get actual raid items off vendors or drops. You could get decent gear but not actual raid loot drop items. You could run and get badges and get gear sets and other goodies but they didn’t have scourge stones, sidereal non-sense and the others to turn in from dugeons to get actual raid items in OG Wrath.
Enjoy whatever fantasy you are living in.
Boss was easier with 30% more health, healing, and damage? Shocker…
This is also true…and I’ve already seen folks ask for ez mode aka: LFR type stuff w/o the actual LFR mechanism.
you forgot rogues dont interupt anymore either.
That’s a DKs job
