Warthin And The Subjective Experience of Names

Still not trying to make it happen. Still on the record, in print, multiple times, stating clearly that I do not want it to be a thing.

Then why did you create a topic about it?
Just ignore those using it, don’t relight the candle.

It’s hilarious to me how many people think that engaging in discussion is all about trying to get people to shut up … when they’re posting … about their opinions … about a video game … on a forum … about that video game.

If silence is what you want, lead by example.

There you go, you’re learning.
Now apply that knowledge and be happy.

Far too many people do this and it’s not okay, Blizzard really needs to improve the forums to where at least account wide ignore is a thing if nothing else.

It wont be a thing if people stop feeding attention to it. Just don’t acknowledge it.

Typing is more about characters than syllables. When you read WW Monk your brain doesn’t say ‘double-you double-you monk’, it just reads it as windwalker monk. At least mine does. I guess I shouldn’t assume how anyone else’s brain works.

And when it comes to verbal conversation, typing it as TWW doesn’t mean you are going say T W W out loud. I don’t say S L in conversation, I just say Shadowlands even though I type SL.

It isn’t a blood thinner, it is literally a tumor. And it isn’t a thing now, it is a name a very vocal minority use to try to troll others to get reactions, the expansion is TWW for The War Within, same as TBC for The Burning Crusade.

When I lived in Connecticut, I was like two blocks from his house. Beautiful house.

 you win the forums ‘this day

I like TWAIN!

Nobody says “Double-Ewe Oh Tee El kay”. They type WOTLK.

I hate reading “Warthin”. I’m a fast reader so every time I come across it I automatically read it as Wrathion. I don’t understand why people won’t just type “War Within”. I think that is a good thing to call it…or if you really want to abbreviate everything “WW”.

There’s a thread towards the top of the list right now that uses WW to refer to Windwalker Monks, so that’s why WW isn’t a good abbreviation for it

Kinda insulting to call the expansion warthin because a Warthin is actually a tumor.

Just goes to show the best thing to call it is by it’s actual name.

Well every expansion has a shortened name or two

TWW is also fine.

The people trying to abbreviate Legion to leg still bug me. Wrath of the Lich King to WotLk? Completely understandable. Warlords of Draenor to WoD? Again understandable. Battle for Azeroth to BfA? We’re good. Legion to leg? Really?
