Just wondering the best way to keep aggro on mobs when tanking. Would it be something like
Charge
Thunderclap
Defensive stance
Battle Shout
Demoralizing Shout
Revenge when able
and Sunder Armor each target?
Dont bother with TC, it sucks.
Just spam sunder, revenge if its procced, and dump excess rage with heroic strike.
In raids, dps warriors will maintain TC and Demo shout for you.
Your 1st step should be to mark your targets for the kill order and CC.
Everything else comes after that.
Drop thunder clap and add cleave
Keep Bloodrage up, i use macros for this to keep it on CD
I was referring more to dungeons because won’t be in raids any time soon haha. Icy Veins said battle shout is good to spam for aoe pulls.
Hmm. It can be. Honestly I’m not 100% sure because Blizzard patched it last patch and I haven’t bothered testing the new mechanics of it yet, my war is still 45 so I’m working purely off my memory from vanilla.
I will say that one you get about 4 or more mobs, tab sunder is not enough. You can only realistically hold 3 with tab sundering.
So, I generally use CC at that point to save myself the stress.
Spamming Battleshout/Demo shout might hold them against aoe damage, won’t hold from anyone single targeting. Unless the new patch means every target gets full threat from a battle shout.
I’ve found this to be accurate as well. Any pull over 3 generally involves a taunt being used at some point. Cleaving helps a lot, sometimes you have to bounce around to different targets to evenly distribute aggro.
Most warrior don’t know how to tank, they just equip 2h weapon and try to do lots of dmg to pull agro, and that’s wrong against many mobs, this is my rotation,
-Charge
-Defensive stance
-Battle Shout
-Shield Block
-Revenge
-Demoralizing Shout
-Shield Block
-Revenge …
With this rotation i keep 90% of the time the agro, when someone gets agro i use revenge if enable or taunt. Never ever use TC, takes alot of rage
How often should I be using Battle Shout? As I said above Icy Veins said to spam it in aoe encounters. What about sunder armor?
Most of time use battle shout against multiple targets in defensive stance and use sunder armor against single target or bosses, what i’ve seen, revenge generate more threat than sunder armor
Charge
Def stance
Battle shout
Shield block proc Revenge cycle
Rage dump if you have it
Best use of rage while levelling.
Revenge does generate more threat than sunder, yes. Should be tapping it pretty much whenever it’s up.
For leveling as arms (if this is where you’re at) 2H charge into SS into berserker rage and whirlwind is great for threat, maybe even works 60 dungeons. A BS and/or DS too if you want followed by a cleave to drop the rest of your SS stacks. If you have WF totem it’s also kind of a godsend for threat.
After that initial opening I determine what I want to do. If the mobs are heavy hitters there’s some D stance and sword/board with shield blocks and revenges. If not I’ll hang out in berserker. Towards the end of the pull I’m back in battle stance to rebuild rage for the next charge.
goto wowhead for threat values by skill from WoWhead, not sure how accurate it is.
add this after the com for wowhead

This is a charge/pull macro I made, but everything has to be off cooldown, so its really once a minute.
#showtooltip Charge

This is actually very accurate.
