**WARNING** Griefer On Path To Kargath

For horde players that dont know, if you usually take the tunnel through the wetlands into loch modan->kargath do not do this. Find a summon or some alternate path such as gnomer port, there is currently a level 60 dwarf rogue camping this area nonstop waiting for people to accidentally flag themselves after getting in aggro with one of the dwarf guard pats.

Good to know, thanks for the heads up (I had plans to head to badlands soon, so this would hinder my fresh level 40 butt big time…)

Griefer? Aren’t they just engaging in world pvp essentially? They aren’t tricking people into pvp, they either aggro the level 30 guard or they don’t. If blizzard doesn’t want this, they should just have guards never flag people. It doesn’t seem like griefing.

Kinda does if you sit there for hours on end waiting for people to get flagged, also sort of a no lifer situation if you ask me…

Funny because I saw a clip of this 60 rogue killing two level 30-40ish players on the hardcore wow clips YT channel.

Loser behaviour.

He also got a 60 hunter by teaming up on them with a paladin. o7 to the brave soldier that fell to someone who should be perma banned.

There’s a bug in HC making people flagged for PvP by just being attacked by guards. He’s exploiting a bug and should be perma banned from HC.
According to the Rules of Engagement this should

  1. never happen.
  2. be a bannable offence.

blizz did fix the guards for alliance in 1000 nedles and barrens. Looks like they failed to fix that for the horde. Gg bliz

The stonard scouts in swamp of sorrows will flag alliance for pvp.

This isn’t griefing by any means. While it’s a bit unfair given that’s the only way to Badlands for horde, that’s a blizzard thing to change that they havent touched in over a year.

The Stonard Guards always did this. But in Era those other Guards do not PvP flag you when they hit you. Only in HC. It’s a bug, and furthermore it’s contrary to what they promised in the Rules of Engagement . that PvP is to me consensual only, and only activated by hitting enemy faction NPCs or typing /pvp.

Abusing this bug is griefing as per the Rules of Engagement. Blizz should abide by their own rules.

PvP flagging:
NOTE how they stress that PvP is consensual - and note that they explicitly say “attacking” not “being attacked by”:

Players will no longer be automatically flagged for PvP upon attacking another player. To flag yourself for PvP, you must type the command /pvp. You won’t be able to take hostile actions against a flagged enemy player unless you flag yourself deliberately.

We’ve added this failsafe to prevent situations in which a player could unintentionally take aggressive action against another player who is flagged for PvP, and unwittingly flag themselves. By requiring players to type /pvp before engaging in any PvP content, this maintains fairness and keeps PvP as a consensual part of the game. It will also reduce the likelihood someone will be “tricked” into becoming flagged unintentionally. It’s important to note that attacking an enemy faction NPC will still flag you even if you haven’t typed /pvp, so steer clear of settlements of the opposing faction!

Griefing and consequenses:

this [griefing] also includes taking actions to deliberately cause the death of another player, such as (but not limited to) kiting higher level or elite mobs onto or near other players with the intent that they take damage and die, or deliberately causing a wipe in a raid or dungeon group. This is not a PvP realm, and the normal PvP realm rules do not in any way apply to this realm. Outside of a normal Duel to the Death, consensual PvP flagging, or Wargames killing other players isn’t the core goal of Hardcore gameplay. If players are found to make it their goal to take part in this kind of disruptive style of play, we reserve the right to take immediate and decisive action against anyone found to be deliberately causing this disruption to other players on these realms, including permanent account closure

So what you are saying that if we DO NOT attack that guard, we will NOT be flaged for pvp?

What’s being said is that the guards shouldn’t be flagging players by attacking them and this degenerate is taking advantage of the bug essentially performing PvP actions without the other parties consent, in turn, breaking ToS and is a bannable offense

blizzard unfortunately must disagree with this take on the TOS, because they have killed like 68+ players and have a massive clip dump and arent banned. Good news is they just fixed the guard interaction, but the player still isnt perma banned. If you can ban that mage that shatters their priest while they are mced you can ban this guy for doing this. Both situations are not consensual pvp even if they are technically marked as an enemy.

You answered your own question.

I agree that the random patrols away from towns shouldn’t flag you in HC. However, given that they do doesn’t mean that someone killing you while flagged is griefing. The rogue isn’t tricking anyone or manipulating mobs himself to flag you. That’s a key distinction.

There’s levels to it. Randomly killing a player you see flagged isnt griefing BUT camping a known point that unknowingly flags players with the sole purpose of globaling them back to their starter zone for hours on end with 8 accounts parked on each layer to make sure that nobody gets through definitely is griefing imo.

Why?

They are flagged for pvp by a method that has existed in the game since the start. I agree that they shouldn’t in HC, but ultimately it seems like a design decision intentionally left in place.

Therefore, if something correctly flags you for pvp without external manipulation from another player then it’s fair game.

Why are we playing devil’s advocate for some of the worst types that are playing this game? If they thought they could get away with it without a ban or dying they’d be trying to get you killed by manipulating every mechanic they can.

Because you’re trying to get someone banned who didnt do anything wrong.

It’s just like camping the gurubashi arena. If you get flagged based on an intentional game mechanic then that’s on you.

No it isn’t? lol it’s literally the only traditional path to the badlands for horde.

Why isnt it intended?
