Ah shoot, well then my bad!
No worries. I think you were thinking that I was thinking that others were thinking that the devs were thinkingā¦ um, never mind. I lost my train of thought.
Warmode was a solution to a business problem. Server identities are gone. Activision did not want to lose their pvp player base with their newer architectures but they couldnāt keep those āpvp serversā around. So the compromise was Warmode.
This is what a large chunk of Horde was doing for five months, and led to the 30% bonus and quest.
BOTH factions got essentially the same gear which was inadequate for PVE content.
Alliance had access to the same 10% reward at that time and opted not to participate. The horde players do not have access to that same 30% and raid quality gear alliance do for opting to pvp now.

Iām confused. You wrote that in response to this quote:
Thatās the problem, the reward attracts people who just want the free gear and then turn it off until next week. They donāt care about having wpvp fun, they just are there for the bribe.
The bribe for the Horde has always been that 10% bonus, which was the same bribe that was offered to the Alliance initially. The Horde had no extra advantages in the form of rewards. They had a distinct disadvantage in fact (in terms of bonuses). There was no free gear quest that the Horde turned off warmode once it was complete. What are you even driving at?
Personally, I donāt think there should be any bonus for turning it on, but thatās a subject for another thread.
Alliance is an entire faction, not a person. So an individual alliance player could choose to turn wm on, but because most other alliance players did not do this and all horde did do this, the alliance player with wm on would be āagainst overwhelming oddsā and face hundreds of gank squads weekly. I canāt choose for my faction and neither could blizzard, so they reacted to the existing imbalance in wm by incentivizing the underdog. Maybe if horde has enough of its players opt out of warmode you will get the weekly someday.
Yeah and I wish they would bring that back. Grind out the currency in bgs and arena just like it was. It gave a reason to grind bgs and made pvp a lot more worth while. At least it did for me.
There should be no 10% bonus for pvp. There should be zero incentive rewards.
I think if the rewards were not great for PVE but they had PVP benefits they would be more fair. Then the only ones turning on warmode would be people who enjoy PVP - people who would have it on anyways. Incentivizing PVE people to do PVP is creating this kind of unbalanced situation.
Bring back PVP gear, reward PVP people for PVP.
If they really wanted this to be successful, they would make it so that you could attack anyone with Warmode on, even your own Faction. Then the bonuses could be applied evenly.
Also, Horde wouldnāt have to worry about the Alliance not having it on and no one to attack.
I see why they did it, but PVP servers worked fine before WM with zero incentive needed. WM needs some type of incentive because they allow it to be turned on and off so frivolouslyāmake the decision lock out for 7 days, and balance or eliminate all rewards, and youāll have much more organic PVP again.
I could be on board for that
What are you even driving at?

It very quickly got around that Horde could turn on WM without having to worry about fighting Alliance. Many Horde turned it on only for the %10 bonus, which never existed on PvP servers. And if there were no bonuses, they wouldnāt have turned it on in the first place.
Just like many Alliance did after the bonus was bumped up to 30%.
A bribe is a bribe is a bribe.

The only incentive needed is the desire to wpvp.
Itās a success if more people are PVPing, which they are. That was literally the goal and they achieved it.
I think that worked great on PVP realms where the choice was irrevocable, but now that you can turn it on and off when convenient and all realms are merged via sharding, they have created new problems. Those that didnāt like their server mix before had the option to moveāme personally preferred to play on the underdog side

Itās only a problem because Horde players are upset at losing the cachet of playing on a PvP server.
Blizzard knows wpvp is not popular. Thatās why thereās a bribe ā the bonus ā at all.
Why does a PvP āserverā need loot? You didnāt get any when you were on a PvP server in the past. And those were imbalanced. And you couldnāt turn it off whenever you felt like it.
Running around ganking low levels and ganging up on individual players. Right. I can see how someone would think thereās something wrong with people who donāt want to be involved with that kind of game play.
