Wake up. Warlock scale better, can heal the whole raid with big stones, summon players, provide buff with pet and curses. Can cc with succy, and fear. 1 shot players in pvp with soul fire. Breathe underwater unlimited. Free mount. Highest dps by end of classic. Literal God’s in pvp.
Mages are cool to, I mean they can make portals.

Who needs water when i can tap into my own life force for mana then drain something elses life to replenish mine.
I’m not farming up enough shards for that dude…Tanks get healthstones, a healer gets a soulstone.
This is why I always put a Dalaran portal right on top of my Ironforge portal. If you don’t appreciate them, you’re gonna gamble your hearthstone cooldown when you use them.
It would be so much more fun if the dalaran portal was in classic.
Aoe and slows are the game changers imo. Hellfire is close range and damages the player.
Please let us know your characters name and server so when we Mages are out and about and you ask for a portal or water we can tell you “no”.
On one hand, they are more interesting in concept.
On the other hand, I wish there was a spec in line with what the fel-corrupted blood mages from TBC were. Destruction isn’t that close in terms of their spells.
In Classic, locks really aren’t much like mages at all.

warlocks are mages who decided not to suck.
Not everything is raids. Damage is what it about in the end and mages will usually out burst the Lock in pve. For the record I have never played a Mage. Here are a couple reasons:
Leveling - my Locks out leveled friends and family Mages to 60 and 70.
PvP - I wasn’t a dueler but in wpvp or bg, many a times I would get attacked and my varying affi/demo spec would survive with about 70%+ health.
Mage = Terror
Lock = Beast

i remember dropping a portal right before a raid boss started and 5/25 people accidentally clicked on it… right before a raid boss got pulled literally… feelsbadman.
No doubt Warlocks are good, but mages are by far the best class in vanilla WoW.
Blink? (double) Ice block? Polymorph? The class is good in every form of content in the game. It’s completely OP, and a 10 year old could do good damage with it.
And I’m not just saying this because I’m posting on my scrub alt mage from legion.
