I’ve looked into hunters. Now I want to know about warlocks. Since warlock pets don’t have a lot of the tedious elements hunter pets do. I would want to go affliction. Sounds my style from the research I’ve done and I won’t lose out on damage if my demon is absent. Any tips on mana management until I get life tap? Are all class requests required? Which ones are skippable? I think I will go tailoring and engineering, since I’ve read those are the top professions to have for warlock. I want the cool mounts and he able to solo quest content if it takes too long to find players to help me. Can I choose which demons to fight with without consequence or is it required to use one over the other? Are particular demons more powerful than others?
I leveled a lock in SoM and then again in tbc so maybe I’m qualified.
You get life tap pretty early iirc so until then you are just drinking like a mage. Best use of mana is to simply not apply dots if a mob is going to die well before their duration is complete. Shadow bolt or wand is more mana efficient. Your choice of demon doesn’t really matter much in wrath, generally I would recommend felhunter because of the affliction talent and the fact that you can dispel fears from yourself. Until then you can run voidwalker. Most class quests you can skip, I liked doing them for the flavor though.
Thank you! Appreciate it!
Yeah you basically just play the class like a mage until you get your voidwalker pet. Once you get the voidwalker you play them a bit like a hunter until you start drain tanking with fear and a succubus. Once you have Siphon Life you just dot everything and jump around while stuff dies all around you.
Good times
If you level enchanting instead of engineering to 15 you can make lesser magic wand then drop it. It will help with mana management in the super early game but honestly by level 12? you more or less have the tools to stop using a wand so I’d only do it if you were trying to grind out secondary professions in the starter zones before moving on
Demon all the way. No contest there. Use the void until you get the fel to replace it.
You get lifetap earlier than mana is even a resource practically. Even more so with the wrath nerfs to leveling. Make an undead and level first aid, I went 1-60 in classic vanilla without ever having to buy water this way.
For max level tailoring is your best profession. You get a free mount so no need to level with mining or herb. If you are demonology at 80, jewelcrafting is best for support min maxing, but if you prioritize fun over min maxing engineering is fun and the second best, and best for personal dps. Engineering is your best second profession in all cases as affliction.
Voidwalker is garbage at tanking, use succubus when you get her (she does more damage and doesn’t get 1 shot like the imp). Use imp in leveling dungeons (unless demo, then obviously use fel guard).
In regards for professions, I would suggest Herbing and maybe Inscription/Alchemy.
Herbing so you can make use of the HoT when Life Tapping and Inscription to make use of the herbs or alchemy for potions for buffing/restorting HP/Mana.
But from what I’ve seen most people Aff locks just send in Voidy, Dot Up and then spam drain soul/drain life.
When I was a low level Lock I felt that bandages and Herbing made the life loss from Life Tap moot.
But Voidwalker is squishy early and some quests have mobs packed real tight or like running.
But I haven’t played a high level lock in years so my opinion is pretty much meaningless.
