I was considering taking the time to gear out a character to hopefully participate in season 3. I’m debating between my warlock and my rogue, my mage would be an option but it won’t be 70 for awhile.
Side question, what classes do you think have the easiest entry into arena now/season 3? Like learning play wise and ability to do well with relative ease compared to others. Not expecting to hit anywhere crazy high but would like to at least see 1800-1900.
If you want easy rating, I’d say play rogue. I don’t really have much knowledge of the game, especially TBC classic, but I played arenas back in MOP. I was able to get shoulders this season as rogue, but it doesn’t feel very satisfying, and for a couple reasons.
1.) Everyone and their mother plays rogue; the fact everyone plays rogue, especially in pvp/arenas kind of removes any individuality, or real sense of accomplishing ‘something’.
2.) Rogue feels kind of ‘scripted’ in it’s gameplay w/ very few ‘clutch’ plays, such as sapping off a blind/fear, which is still rather ‘scripted’ gameplay in feeling. Rogue seems like it’d be a dynamic class to play, but it’s actually kind of static in the way it plays; once you have all the appropriate macros, it’s very easy, like you’re an appliance.
Lock seems really fun, and a lot more dynamic in a lot of arena situations. You can choose drawn out comps, or fun double DPS comps which often result in 1v2 situations that the lock wins. Lock seems to have more diversity of gameplay in approach to its arena comps, and HOW the warlock chooses to play the game. Of course the game is 15+ years old, so everything’s figured out in a cookie cutter kind of way, but choosing lock seems like a better option.
