Looking for advice or guide material for leveling via dungeon grind for a warlock. I’ve seen a decent amount of discussion around felguard spec, but wasnt sure what is best. My lock has pretty decent vanilla gearing (mix naxx/aq40). Any help is appreciated. (didnt get into beta even recently, so not sure what is playing well)
I’m assuming you mean 60-70, and I’ve heard that Felguard is actually quite strong due to the AoE combined with Black Book/ToEP. It’s what the Warlock in my group will be doing. You’d largely have to go to their discord where it’s going to be discussed, but Destro AoE isn’t particularly fantastic and mobs will die too fast for Affliction. SoCorr comes late too, so you can’t rely on that either.
Your best bet is probably to head to that Discord.
The honest answer is that with good gear it doesn’t matter what spec you level as. 60-70 is a breeze for warlocks and you’ll be pumping in dungeons whether you’re UA, Felguard or Fire Destro. Literally doesn’t matter.
Personally, I’d go Felguard. It’s great for solo questing, you’ll win 90% of your 1vs1 ganks and in dungeons you can easily pump 700 DPS or more with the spec. It’s a jack of all trades master of all trades for 60-70. Obviously you’ll want to respec at 70 for a more specific build (PvE or PvP) but for the leveling process it’s very strong.
This is a touch misleading. Affliction is simply amazing for leveling because while a mob might die with half your dots on it, it does nothing to stop you multi-dotting and draining.
OP: For a safe steady grind you can’t beat deep demo with a felguard, for someone who is willing to play with alittle risk you cannot top deep affliction for multi dotting every mob in sight and draining back your health.
Destro is just not worth it IMO while leveling and while it can be done it’s just not worth it without a pocket healer.
