playing destro I’ve cleared all mythics since release, twice, and I’ve noticed things by watching ilvl shown by other details users.
our abilities just flat out dont do enough damage. at 179 ilvl a 150 dk who was NEW to the class consistently wrecked me on trash and competed on bosses.
my main gripe is our aoe is garbage tier. cataclysm, 1 min cd TALENT, does less than half the damage a 1 min cd BASELINE frozen orb. this was noticed on a mage 10 ilvls below me as well.
at 179 ilvl with no cooldowns or anything my chaos bolts hits for 4500ish. this is a limp noodle. my dps is only good when infernal is out. long boss fights i hit a point im spamming incinerates that tickle for 1k.
this class sucks. and we all know how pvp goes. good luck actually casting a chaos bolt. im rerolling.

If you’re getting rolled that hard with about a 30 ilvl gap to a DK, that sounds like a personal issue bud. Sure, we don’t do much damage outside of the infernal window but with Cata and CDF we definitely have some AoE trash power. Also, posting on a warrior alt makes it pretty hard to lend assistance and see where the issue is from a gear/talent perspective.

I’ve been doing great in mythics. If I’m not at the top I’m usually second. And our tool kit offers a lot of survivability in the form of gateway, portal, we have damage mitigation, a counter spell, and a great burst.
What’s important is to keep immolate up on everyone to get those juicy shards, havoc every pull you can and nuke chaos bolts off it. Use conflag on CD.

You need to learn to play.
I ve been playing alot of myth and never felt that I was falling behind, and often am first on DPS.
If you re getting owned by a 30 ilvl difference, you need to read up some more.

Let’s take the skill level of others out of the equation. What is your DPS in your mythic dungeons? This will be a good starting place, since you haven’t posted on a lock.

nah, they might get ahead, but I never feel behind.
Same with PvP, at the top of the charts most the time.
Game has tuning issues, but destro in myth+ really isnt bad.

Post you dps charts so we can gage how well everyone does no point in saying how good you felt your dps was.
People have to start showing what their dps numbers. No more I feel like I do well. Evidence.
Then you’ll really know if it’s good, mid tier, or just low tier.

What talents were you using?
Are you necrolord? If so you gave up some AOE prowess for addition ST, which is fine, but know what you have.
These M0s are not a good barometer for us trash dies too fast. Rain of Chaos + Soul Conduit + Inferno with Wilfreds will be great for us in M+, if the tank pulls around your Infernal CD.
ST we are in the lower half of classes, while Unholy DK is at the top. After Heroic and Normal raid week they always tune the classes. Perhaps we are in line for a buff, perhaps not. Also destros best ST legendary memories are from the end of the raid.

I’ve done exactly 1 M0 and got pretty handily beat by our mage. To be fair, though, he had 10 ilvls on me, I still had my demo conduit socketed while I was playing destro, and I was specced for mass AoE but our tank was only pulling 3-4 mobs at a time. I think we could be better, but we’re not unplayable.
I’m consistenttly doing well in M0, and dont even have wilfreds yet.
Burden of proof is on you, most agree destro is more than fine in dungeons. Show me your bad DPS.

Unholy is the highest DPS spec in the game rn so that explains it for sure. I was doing mythics with my unh friend, and I am usually top in mythics, but he was doing 5k+ dps on every pack

Doing quite well in mythics as destro. We’re fine. And with Wilfreds I’m always hoping someone will ‘by accident’ pull a second or third pack so I can unleash hell. On a big pull we’re untouchable.

I sit at around 8k sustained on big trash pulls with incinerate fnb and RoF. We’re the best at 2 target cleave in the game that I’ve seen so far.
We do get beat frequently on small consistent pulls. Where the tank will go 2-3 mobs at a time. We can’t win those because of the havoc cooldown.
What really kills the class is the mobility requirements. As I’ve said routinely since October 2018 the feast or famine problem with haste is 2 second cast times don’t feel good. There are a million reasons you’ll have to move. A trap, a melee is beating you down, the boss decides to target you for the third straight time. Whatever it is you’re going to be forced to move because your status as a turret is not tank. You’re a paper turret.
So we have to wait until 9.3 when they get around to giving us enough haste to not feel trash. That’s warlock life since BFA launched. Sucks but that’s what it is.
That’s the beauty of locks in pvp, they can top damage meters in bgs will simultaneously applying zero kill threat. Lol. The amount of cope coming out of the mouths warlocks these days. If you don’t feel like you’re left behind, even in pvp, I want what you’re smoking
Try affliction. It’s been pretty fun. Destro is still good though. So idk man. What numbers do you usually pull?

Im regurlarly top kills on my team (as destro) in bgs as well. Maybe you need to learn to play?
Warlock are from from the “best” class, but we are eons from being helpless,a nd can be real killing machines and can easily line up more than 20k damage in the span of 4-5 seconds.
