Warlock Customization: More Grimoires! And other stuff

Yeah for sure. I also would like for all of our demons to feel useful. I mean, as cool as the incubus is, does anyone even use the succubus anymore? Voidwalker is usually the go to tank, imp for raids, fel pup for m+… what do we use the succubus for?

Also, I always felt locking demo into ONE demon just felt wrong. Should have some good for aoe, single target, melee, range, tank… a bit more versatility. Idk

I have enough Warlocks, and am a very concept-driven player, that I have one Horde and one Alliance that use Succubus nearly-exclusively. Same with Felhunter, Wrathguard, Imp, etc. While not anywhere near endgame content, those demons are sufficient for the normal leveling process.

Cool man. I would like to see more use of them

Yeah, we used them a lot for CC back in Scholo and Strat, but I don’t get mine out as much in dungeons, since the groups move too fast for CC to be relevant or useful. lol

A stables would be nice, but I think maybe like a grimoire where you can like change up who you summon would feel better for rp, like collecting demons in a grimoire and the ui letting you pick which skin you want to use.

Well yeah that’s what I mean. We USED to use them in dungeons for CC and all that, cc is no longer necessary, really. Better off having more useful demons out that do more damage

Yeah our biggest design failures of our pets are:

  1. The demons are not doing the same DPS
  2. Two of our talents (which are the usual two “meta” talents) force us to play Felguard even if they were balanced
  3. The Succubus CC requires channeling which makes it the weaker CC and prevents her from attacking even if they were balanced and the talents were fixed.
  4. *insert general standard rant about pet pathing/control here *

Yes that is the suggestion/ask in the OP :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m pretty solid in my wish now. What I would like to see is a Grimoire near the Warlock trainers that acts like a barbershop of sorts. Use [Subjugate Demon] to add it to your Grimoire. Go to the Grimoire and select which demon you want for each role. Easy as learning Voidwalker on Exile’s Reach, and would feel true to the Warlock kit.

I miss having old grimoire of supremacy to have upgraded demons. Too bad the legion version wasn’t good for demo. Would love another talent similar that allowed you to choose between summoning a pit lord, dread lord, etc. replacing the Felguard

It felt exciting summoning the wrathguard back in MoP. Legit stronger demon

Yes would be nice, I want the tiki mask imps for example for my troll warlock. So like having a grimoire with demon skins would be nice. Since we got barbershop stuff already for some classes. It would be nice to get some of that for all the classes like druids have. They can do it ghost wolf too. Or add a interface too if they ever decide to add class skins. For example green fire would be a nice option to include in one of these uis.

We need more evergreen features that they continually add stuff to!

I’d want something slightly more RP-ish:

  • Enslave a demon/aberration in the “wild”, trap it in a soul shard
  • Take it to Dreadscar Rift, where we have to 1 v 1 it to make it sign a contract (or if Beastial or a Construct, bind it to us otherwise)
  • The nameless demon/aberration thus reveals its “true name” to us, and we add it to the grimoire

Our Grimoire is a floating book next to each Warlock Trainer and in Dreadscar Rift of each demon/aberration we enslave.

If we want to change the demon/aberration name, we have to re-enslave the same model to “reveal” a new name.

Only Demonology can tame the Aberrations and Demons that already have names (e.g. the boss NPCs).

Those would slap.

Same.

I honestly don’t know why we have gone this long without more demons. It’s just fun/cool. I FEEL like people have even asking for more for a long time, especially during the demon expansion (Legion).

Maybe have it be any demon trainer area where you can 1v1 the demon to get the contract/bind it, not just Dreadscar Rift, for those few who have faction identity and would rather do it in faction cities.

Otherwise, I guess your ideas are pretty cool. Unless there’s a Hell and Satan in real life. In which case boo on you. But I don’t know that for sure, so whatever I dunno.

Grimoire would be accessible in the cities tho

But Cleft of Shadow has enough space for a 1v1, but slaughtered lamb doesn’t really.

I guess they could make the slaughtered lamb basement larger since it’s under the map

I know we aren’t really talking about talents, but demo should definitely have a companion talent.

Just tryin to keep the thread bumped as well

We did it fam! We finally did it! Through our combined efforts, incubus on the way!

Now that you came onto the thread:

While I have no desire to become a hunter, I do support the idea of “taming” demons, as long as we only get 1 per function (tank, ranged dps, etc). We’d need an additional ability, though; demonic knowledge, which would be used in much the same manner as the hunter ability beast lore. However, I do not like the idea of allowing them to have weapon slots or letting them use things in our backpacks. That’s a little too much. The focus should always be on the player, not their “pets.”

But, you know, whatever. It’s a game and I’m having fun.

I’d love for a stable like ability to get more demons never made sense to not have it
