Warlock class. Thoughts?

I have played as a warrior, paladin, mage. They all feel linear in terms of attacking. I kept dying multiple times when more than one enemy attacked me. I really want radius type attacks. I have tried the death knight class but I don’t like the fact they are almost max level. So I tried the warlock and it was great. The skills are useful for stacking attack damage, and the minions are super helpful in combat. So far it’s my favorite class. What do you think? Also I’m still not used to this, so yeah.

Played until what level? A lot of classes struggle with multi target until 40-50

Mage and Paladin are pretty much the best for solo multi target farming

Hard to get a true picture of a class until atleast 50-60

Got it. It’s gonna take time I guess.

Put a shield on with your paladin or warrior and its easy to handle multiple enemies.
Paladin = Seal of command/consecration you can easily pull 3 or 4 enemies and kill them all. Warrior defensive stance and Revenge spam, same thing.

Personal preference. Play what you enjoy. Warlock, like most classes, is its prime in wrath. No more buying pointless skill books for your demons. What I like most though is being able to get soul link in any build. It used to be ransomed deep in the demon build. Extra insult is having to slot a talent that kills your pet in order to unlock the talent that needs your pet active to use. It’s like, what the hell were they thinking? Wrath had to clean up most of the messes from classic/crusade.

I leveled a warlock in both SoM and later TBC and it was some of the most fun I had leveling. Being able to take on multiple enemies, fear juggling or drain tanking them while never running out of mana or health is great. It is far more engaging than any other class I leveled.

Just wait until you get to Outland and can pick up well itemized gear. You can pull limitlessly as an affliction lock. I was doing the seals grinding spot in howling fjord between AV queues this weekend I went from 71 to 78 in about 12 hours .

Hi again friend! After your forum posts last night, I can’t imagine you’ve made it too high in level on any of the characters you’ve thus far tried. No class start with the ability to mass kill mobs. Even with spells and abilities that will hit multiple targets, it doesn’t mean you’ll kill everything you pull, and may still die. Different spells and abilities unlock as you level up, just visit your trainer every 2 levels and you’ll likely have new abilities to train. MOST classes have spells and abilities that are area of effect. Some however are better then others, for example; Using the right talents and Blizzard as a frost mage is great for aoeing down mobs and survivability, but as an arcane mage, spamming arcane explosion will likely get you killed. Classes and specs are not as liner as you may think and not all classes are GOOD at doing what you’re looking for, especially at low level. At low levels, most if not all classes will struggle, especially if you’re not sure what you’re doing and playing it wrong. I’d argue you won’t even get a complete feel for a class and the way it plays until around level 40ish. At that point, you have MOST of your main spells and abilities but if you’re abandoning a class and you haven’t even made it to level 30 with them yet, you’re giving up while only having a fraction of understanding of that class and what it’s capable of.

Playing Warlock is both morally and ethically wrong. You may redeem yourself by becoming one with nature and becoming a Druid.

I finally leveled a Warlock to 70 in TBC Classic (never played one in my original 2004-2012/13 WoW days), but didn’t do much beyond that. Not really a fan of any of the talent tree layouts/play-styles or the generic-feeling demon minions in general. Not a fan of playing a mage either, mostly due to lackluster class/talent designs. Both classes may be good/effective DPS, utility & desirable in groups/raids, but they aren’t really very fun to play IMO. Different people like different stuff though.

The nice thing about (affliction) warlock is that you’re efficient at killing 1, 2, or more enemies at a time and you can adjust based on your health and mana and power level. You have many ways to regain health while dealing damage, so once your damage over time abilities are on one enemy and it’s not hitting you for too much, you can start using them on another one, etc., use drain life as needed to get more health (especially at low levels before you have Siphon Life talent).

Mages on the other hand can kill large groups of enemies fast, primarily with Blizzard and starting around level 22 (improved blizzard talent), but you need to be careful and set it up, e.g. gather a bunch of melee enemies together without taking too much damage (easier after getting Ice Barrier at level 40), freeze them, blink, cast 2 blizzards + cone of cold or Arcane Explosion to finish them off, all the while having enough space to do so without other enemies running into you. They can also solo large packs of enemies in dungeons but it requires specific techniques, careful movement and usage of abilities like blink and frost nova to prevent any of them hitting you. So mage has a high multi-damage potential but warlock is just more forgiving and resilient when levelling.

Mages are just weaker warlocks.

There are only two classes:

Warlocks and soul shards
