Warlock’s in TBC

I’m aware they become great, I’m aware the are good for raids and PvP…
Is there anything a warlock can reliably farm better than most classes in TBC for gold outside of professions? I’m asking because I thought I might make my lock my 2nd character and pve/gold farm on him while I just do arena on the rogue.

Warlocks were amazing at the start of TBC and eventually were balanced to be about the same as anyone else after a while. So it really depends on Blizzard, do they start TBC at 2.0 or do they start it at the last patch of TBC like they did with Classic and Vanilla?

They were also god mode powerful in raid in T6

Warlocks do have some viable AOE farms in SMV with Seed of Corruption but it’s pretty niche and probably not the best way of gold farming. They excel at grinding water eles in Skettis, fire eles in Kazzak’s area, and a few other open world grinds where their efficiency lets them kill mobs quickly with zero downtime. These spots will probably be overcamped in TBC Classic without layering/phasing on most servers considering the current population though.

Warlocks are also able to solo farm certain instance targets, including heroic Slave Pens up to Quagmirran, and some of the zones with ancient lichen. Again, it’s probably not optimal gold per hour but can be worthwhile and might end up pretty strong if open world camps are too crowded.

In TBC the best gold farming classes will likely be paladins and druids. Druids flight mode makes them the single best class for herbing and mining. Cyclone also means they can CC anything that contests their herbing/mining. Prot Paladins AoE isn’t nerfed the way mage and warlock AoE is so they will be great for mass mob grinding and possibly dungeon boosting.

Sounding like I’ll be running a paladin to make money off boosting haha.

Any idea what dungeons were lucrative to farm?

The opposite is true. Warlocks start out Meh and T6 have highest dps in the game.

Could you expand on that a bit please? As in, consecrate on 10 mobs does more DPS than a mage spamming Arcane Explosion?

Yeah mages and warlocks AoE (not including seed of corruption) has a damage cap on more than 10 targets. Once you go over 10 mobs the damage will begin to be split. So mages and warlocks blizzard/hellfire/rain of fire are hugely needed.

Paladins reflect damage is not handled the same. Ret aura, blessing of sanctuary, holy shield, shield spikes, etc. they all only hit 1 target at a time. So you can still effectively AoE big packs.

warlocks aren’t good in tbc. in pvp you are a sitting duck. they were pretty strong with 30% soul link, but it gets nerfed to 15% and from that point on SL warlock is trash in pvp.

best farmers will probably be druids.

but once you get dailies no one has a need for gold really. there is nothing worth buying either.

Paladins I would say become the new Mages as far as AoE goes due to the AoE cap that gets put in place amd the fact that Paladins AoE is mostly reflective.

What are you looking for in a gold farm though?

Paladins will probably be the only class that could effectively do boosts but I’m not too sure on that.

Any class would probably do just fine in open world mob farming.

Druids will be #1 resource gatherers.

AoE effects that crit are not subject to the AoE damage penalties when they crit. so a destro lock with 30% crit spamming seed is going to see a lot of crits.

What I’m looking for is s character that can make money hand over fist, like mages in classic boosting/soloing dungeons or maybe there’s something else that makes more money?
I missed the boat in classic making a mage to bank roll on and my rogue will really be just for arena and world PvP… I don’t foresee anything super profitable by using my rogue to farm…
Advice is appreciated

Any class able to fish, and kill mobs efficiently can make plenty of gold in tbc. Warlocks can farm primal water in skettis pretty easily

Druids with flight form make the best herbists

Then when dailies come out, everyone can make gold

But if you’re looking for mage type money making…it’s kinda just a classic thing.

Darn it… mage money is what I’m after. But couldn’t a pally still sell boosts?
