Oooooor they can go the simple non-headache inducing and fair route and just not suddenly make player characters canon.
What you did or not do is completely irrelevant.
Oh and slurs, joy.

Lukewarm. Eighty-second.
yeah, i will never going to agree with you on that one.
Enjoy being a nobody imaginary character, because this will be definetely not me!
This is what happens when you center the story around the player character and then change that story in game later on for the games narrative as a whole.
The Death Knight Champion in Legion raises every single four horsemen we specifically seek them out and raise them, it is not a random selection of races as some people have been confused about in the comments.
They are sworn again… to the player character DK, that was the whole storyline throughout Legion. And Bolvar the Lich King becomes weary/worried about the Player DKs growing power.
This whole storyline is a disconnect from the events of Legion “WE” the DK player are the horsemen’s master… no one else. And the entire pre-shadowlands event again made no sense as the DK order hall champion, you should not be informed by Lorthemar of what the Ebon Blade are doing… you are the one who tells them what to do.
Either tell an agnostic storyline in terms of the player characters existence so that this issue doesn’t come up again in the future, or carefully write your storyline’s with the existence of the player character in mind.
It would not have been hard to give in game death knights a few more dialogue lines about sending the Horsemen to save Bolvar in this extreme case of a disconnected storyline to avoid this mess.
Oooookay crazy person. Enjoy your game.
I really enjoyed reading this. It was obvious that care and thought was taken in the writing and editing process; and the word choices, dialogue, and little details that were added were well done. It actually makes me look forward to reading more stories like this in the future.
As for the class halls and Legion: I feel like most of that fractured and ended with the end of Legion. Much of our power was borrowed power gained from the artifacts we possessed in-game. When that power was used to defeat Argus and capture Sargeras, I saw that as our influence and power was diminished and expended in such a way that we no longer were able to “control” things as we once did. Like others before us, we had a taste of power, but then we went back to being a champion of our respective factions/organizations. That said, I can see how some people might enjoy still being a High Priest or Archdruid, etc. I don’t think it’s lore-breaking to still be those things in the game with the understanding that the title isn’t actually what makes you important; it’s the relationships and friendships you have built and cultivated along the way. But I respect that other people might have a different take on things like that, and I agree that it would be nice to have an “official” stance on those things–especially since that can be problematic when it comes to stories like this.
That said, …role-players rejoice! You get some idea of what it’s like to be severed from one conduit of power …and then have it explode the sky. Welcome to your liberation, death knights…
