I see what you’re saying and agree.
Thanks for explaining further.

You are just a phobe…
Ahh yes, 'cause how dare you have legit criticisms… you must be a phobe or -ist if you do.
critcising a story for its content is valid…
complaining everytime a trans story is publicized is phobic…
shoving it down your own throat and complaining about it… is idiotic
The story itself admits that while Chronormu provided very thoughtful reasoning on HER decision to become a gnome, there is virtually nothing in the story to support the decision to be female. NOTHING.
Yes, the decision to socially transition and use she/her pronouns indicates she’s female. As well as the use of a female visage form. The visage form isn’t a performance. It’s who she is.
I’m not sure what you’re expecting. A story where Chromie talks about having crippling gender dysphoria and how it makes her anxious and depressed? Nah, this is a far better story.
complaining everytime a trans story is publicized is phobic…
No, it’s just you being ignorant to somebody elses opinion on the content being criticized.
shoving it down your own throat and complaining about it… is idiotic
See, you clearly don’t get why SOME people have issues regarding this.
Ok explain it then ?
What about this story do you dislike so much… and why did this story that you didn’t have to read feel like it was pushed in your face ?
Guess what retcons happens under any new leadership or narrative lead that’s how it works different writers would have different views on how they want the story to go or conclude.
Have fun finding anyone who agrees that doing what they did to Arthas was good writing. Really, Danuser previously spoke positive about the trainwreck that was Season 8 of GoT. That alone says a lot, and its especially sad when people like you will go out of their way to defend a bad writer.
Guess what some people do like season 8 rather or not you believe it. Also, it’s his personal opinion on how the show ended.
Also arthas story is done and it should’ve been closed decades ago.

He had many, many many many other ways to manage the story of Shadowlands that would have made more sense. Whenever it was his or Afrasiabi 's story, he completely and absolutely dropped the ball. And for that, i really can’t just ignore it nor have forgotten that he completely massacred my favorite characters for absolutely no good reason at all.
Also, there’s a difference between opinion and unanimous consensus. You can’t really argue against the fact Season 8 of GoT signifies a massive drop in quality compared to earlier seasons. Some story flaws are so glaring and visible that really, you can’t just pretend they are not there.
For all the disagreement the wow community has and always had since Classic, Shadowlands is near unanimously despised, and Battle For Azeroth almost as much. Even if he can’t write other’s stories, he could have been a lot more respectful of lore and worked the narrative a lot better than he ultimately did, while still reaching the same beats.
I’ve checked Dragonflight lore and stuff like this, and the best i’ll say is that its about average. It’s not amazing and i’ve seen better, but not nearly that bad.
Besides, considering he just ruined and defiled the legacy and lore of warcraft 3 and earlier expacs, i can’t really say anything nice about him and DF lore has not undone the mess that’s completely on him regarding Shadowlands, so i will still hold SL against him. The fact he reacts in a completely dismissive and sometimes toxic way to criticism only makes it worse, as he look like a petty manchild who can’t be criticized when he screws up and will not improve.
Also arthas story is done and it should’ve been closed decades ago.
Then don’t bring him into Shadowlands at all, like how Tirion wasn’t. What they did was infinitely worse than just not using Arthas at all and exclude him out of Shadowlands. Like, WHAT WAS THE POINT? 0 reason to do what he did other than absolute spite, 0 gameplay or lore purpose other than fridging Arthas for the sake of more Sylvanas Shill. He couldn’t even have the decency of having Jaina and Uther comment on it to bring closure, despite the fact those 2 had a deeper connection to him.
Guess what some people do like season 8 rather or not you believe it.
Yes and they are entitled to their opinion. Even though it’s wrong. Like really wrong.
Well, it is indeed something
I enjoyed this a great deal, though I will admit it was rather simply written. That said, this was a book of fairy tales meant for children or to tell around campfires–something meant to convey little wisdoms or to entertain.
There are some here who are criticizing it for not being something more, and I feel as though you’ve rather missed the point of the story and the genre for which it was written. You’re looking for the stuff of novels or actual short stories. But this is a fairy tale–a folk tale that Chromie herself probably put into circulation to better help mortals understand dragonkind’s visages. In either case, I feel like the style and the lack of more in-depth explanations suits this format well. Personally, I also think the simplicity of it suits Chromie, herself. Sometimes you just know when something is right–and that doesn’t require a lot of soul searching or heartfelt explanations. It just simply…is.
Thank you for sharing this story. The Kindle version of the folk and fairy tales book is rather expensive; so, having one of the stories from it out for people to read for free is a welcome choice. I would recommend the rest of the book to anyone who hasn’t had a chance to read the other stories, though. I expect a lot of the reason the book is so expensive is because of all the beautiful art–some of which we got to see along with this story.
OK, I see what you’re saying and you’re right, it’s a pander… but in 2022, I’ve accepted that even though trans people make up like .1 or .3% of the population, just about everything that gets written has to have a trans character because “representation”.
It’s fine - it’s done. No problem, just at least have the decency to not preach at the same time. Adding any sort of in-depth justification, especially to the tune of: “In this cruel, patriarchal society, the best way to be unseen, unnoticed and unheard is BE A WOMAN” … would have turned this story from “not bad” to “an absolute poop smear on the wall” in a single paragraph.
Why do dragons choose a mortal form when “coming of age?” And why do dragons care about “coming of age?”
The thing to remember about Chromie is she is a dragon who uses magic in a fantasy world. She doesn’t need to take potentially harmful medicines or undergo complicated surgeries to appear as she wants to. People who identify as trans and undergo medical transition usually become medical patients for life, and often undergo mutilating surgeries that leave them sterile and with many complications. More and more who are detransitioning are speaking up daily about their lifelong struggles as a result of medical transition. Also, Chromie is not a child, and isn’t taking harmful puberty blockers that have lasting physical and neurological affects. So, for a fantasy story, it’s fine. But, it shouldn’t be heralded as representation in the real world because in the real world biological sex is immutable, and transition is often painful and very difficult, and in the end is truly only cosmetic.
Oooorrr maybe people are tired of forced characters that do a 180 and don’t make sense at all.
what about her feels particularly forced to you…
its one of the characters they have chosen to tell the stories narrative.
not unlike jaina/aduin
what about this characters presence seems forced?
Which book is this from?
Wondering how Blizzard chooses people to write short stories. There are many short stories that are written by some random, amateur author and while the content is good, they are lacking what a real author would bring to it.
Do you guys give the author a bunch of notes to follow and then they fill in the blanks?
Please let us be Gnome Visage.
I mean I’d even take that than human lol.
