Warcraft Short Story: “Visage Day”

Chromie is not even trans, just a woke Dragon trying to be edgy because everyone else mostly picks Elves, Humans and males for a visage.

It’s a costume to the Dragons lol. :joy:

Ebonhorn is the only Dragon that has substance for his visage.

It’s being reposted as a standalone versus something new, since the only way to access it prior was through the book. Plus we’ll be interacting with Chronormu a fair amount in Dragonflight.

A Danuser story…

Hrm.

All right, I’ll bite.

EDIT: Finished it - not bad. Didn’t blow me away but the dude can spin a yarn. I thought ‘uh oh’ when I saw Chronormu beginning with male pronouns, but nothing was written to beat people over the head with. In fact, I liked the call back of “it suits me”… to Kalecgos talking about the color of his hair. Doesn’t need to be explained more than that.

I also loved the conversation with Onyxia. That was very well done.

I agree. Unfortunately Blizzard being a SoCal company and trying to now shift away from the scandals they had. These forums basically leaning to the ‘progressive’ left so they’ll take anything they can get.

The centaur same sex love story in DF is also a big one.

Just disingenuous or a lazy way to go about it to gain brownie points.

It’s pretty obvious… they’ve been seeing the feedback for the last year that Danuser’s name is synonymous with “SL quality” storytelling.

I think they’re doing anything they can to try and shift that perspective slightly. It’ll take more than a decent short story, but can’t say it hurt. The story wasn’t bad.

I agree.

I don’t have a problem with a woman lead or a LGBTQ character being introduced to the story. I hate it when it feels forced or it’s the writer trying to be edgy or virtue signal his/her wokeness. It irks the heck out of me and makes me want to puke.

You remember “Aliens” the movie? Remember Ripley and vasquez. You remember Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. Storm from the X-Men or how awesome Northstar is. There is so many more characters that were introduced into stories from the 80s, 90s and 2000s that felt organic and a joy to read. They didn’t feel forced like today’s stories. This stuff today feels fake and like I’m being preached to.

It would of been better for chromie to have substance rather than because there is to many Elfs, Human and Male visages.

Like I said awesome plot but terrible execution.

Could not disagree more.

You would have literally turned Chromie being female into an agenda and commentary on “the patriarchy”… rather than a personal choice, which would have made this suck.

Candidly, I agree - it’s gonna take a lot more than a short story.

But, as I said, it didn’t hurt. It wasn’t a bad story.

TBH i dont really care what chromie’s visage form is wow is a magical fantasy universe where anything is possible and sometimes is.

Confused by this, explain?

Ya like I’ve come to learn that not everything is tailored for me so if there are LGBT characters and I am not feelin’ it, that’s fine. There are people who do want it, like it and are of that orientation. But I will call out companies who just do it for that pat on the back from the audience.

It is also a weird time to live in when we get more actresses attacking fans for not liking it like it is some new feat of strength for having a female lead when we’ve had lots like you mentioned and I liked a lot of them.

I just want good ol’ escapism and proper story telling.

Ah, sorry - responded to the wrong person. You were quoting a guy from before.

Chromie is not as cute as me their i complained :stuck_out_tongue:

I thought the story was pretty good. I’ve always liked Chromie, and this is a nice way of addressing what people have known about her for a while now.

That said, this also just furthers how stupid the decision for Dracthyr’s Visage form is. The story actually supports the idea of choosing any race, yet we’re shoehorned into Elf and Human.
