It’s embarrassing, half the raid is basically spoonfeeding you. If you’re pugging there’s little hope you’ll hit those big numbers people like to complain about. I’ve hit 99s in pugs but it really does make you realize what you need to do that: companionship and love.

  • This post is by someone who also mains rogue, I love turning my brain off and pressing 1 + 2 and doing top dps

(also parsing in a 25 leveling raid lol)

I cannot believe its gotten to a point in this game where people are logging a level 25 raid where the entire purpose is fun and a sense of discovery.

Parsing is the worst thing to ever happen to this game and i have never and will never, out of principle, look at a single parse of mine in any version of wow.

Now i see that its infesting season of discovery? Not on my watch. Every time i put together a bfd raid i will make it a point that if anyone brings up logs or asks if we are logging, they are forfeiting loot.

Join another group if a spreadsheet percentile number means that much to you.

Recently, I was removed from a group because I was a “gray parser”.

I do not know what this means, but I was humiliated by other people in the raid and was removed from the group despite making time in my schedule to get a world buff and show up to the raid on the sign up sheet.

I come to find out that people are parsing via Warcraft Logs and there are no invites being given out unless you are amongst the top of your class and can play everything perfectly.

This is gatekeeping at it’s finest, and I really do hope as future tiers open up that we as a community can be more accepting of casual players and “Gray parsers” so more people can get a chance to raid.

Daily reminder that ignoring support abilities cause they don’t increase your individual damage don’t make you better at the game

Projecting much? What’s your parses look like? Get serious!

Gray parse means you are quite literally in the bottom percentiles for your class. It’s usually an indicator not of casual, but of bad. Casual can EASILY score green even into blue if they, ya know, try. Gray either means they suck really badly at the game, thus you don’t want them because they’re bad, or for some reason died a lot, which usually means you don’t want them because they don’t know what they’re doing.

It isn’t gatekeeping to not want to waste your time with people who are below average by that much. It’s one thing to require extremely high numbers, it’s another to say “please don’t make us carry you.”

How are you people not tempted to parse?

Classic raids are so boring otherwise. Gives you a challenge.

Also don’t you want to see how far you can push the gear you get? Like why even raid lol

Parsing is a measurement of performance. It’s understandable that those with low performance would call it elitist. Don’t like it? Form your own groups.

I wonder why good parsers don’t complain about it

This is also very true. Simply being average DPS will give you blue parse and people will invite you.

No problem with how people wanna play - parse or no parse.
But man could y’all looking to claim your character at least read or get a trusted friend/adult to help you understand the instructions on how to do this.

Some people have lives and don’t want to waste more time outside the game…on the game. To each their own.

What “support abilities” are you using that it’s causing you to deal damage equal to someone who died seconds into a fight or went AFK?

We’re not talking about crazy pumper damage levels here, we’re talking about people whose damage was on par with someone who was literally AFK or died seconds into a fight.

Daily reminder that people play differently and for different reasons.

I was gonna scroll right on by but I’m really curious to figure out what combination of 3 spenders and 1 generator you’re using out of those 2 buttons :3

Sounds like either raiding or MMOs aren’t for you then

You don’t need to have no life to excel at 1-2 button rotations with almost no boss mechanics

Half our 99 parsers raid log

You do realize people still checked DPS with addons before logs existed right? Except before, the problem was worse, because you’d get compared to other classes, even if your own class was weaker overall. This is because guilds would see your performance each boss fight, each week. Pugs didn’t get very far back then. At least logs now allow people to be compared based on gear, class, etc. DPS classes have always cared about their DPS, ever since original vanilla.
I don’t know what groups you’re trying to join but most pug groups only really make sure you’re not parsing green or gray. If you know your stat priority, have your pre-BiS gear, and your rotation, it’s actually pretty hard to not parse blue+

It’s so simple, people just need to not join the group or play with someone else i don’t get all this trash talking about parsing or not like just don’t play w them lol. Also, for the record, anyone with the capability to understand basic math (addition, subtraction) etc can purple parse every fight. People who grey parse literally do it on purpose bc they don’t give af about working as a team to begin with. zero effort players in game and in irl
and for the “its just a game for fun” people, yes i agree but making something agonizing 2-3 hours long and not complete things is not fun and not just a game bc you’re wasting hours of your time due to other people not matching effort

Think people are confusing parsing with how people use parses.

Parsing I got no problem with. Get those big deeps.

Problem is when people try to treat it as more than what it is. Everyone in here talking about grey parses, and I just sitting on my healer going “okay……y’all don’t know anything p, you just know the color and what you think it means”.

A large% of the parsing score is gonna be down to group composition and kill times. This is largely outside of the control of the player.

Next is gear, a significant portion of player power for sure.

Only after all of that(and a few things I probably forgot) does it actually come down to player skill.

However people want to act like the color of the number is significant towards raid outcomes.

not when you actively go out of your to seclude others who dont have parses or they went to log and just didnt have a high enough average
