Nobody is asking for that, we just want our stuff back, even just half our stuff back would be fine for some. Heck I’d settle for just one particular item back I’d been sitting on for the last decade, in the same private guild, same tab, same slot, 10 years. One old backup to restore one item and I’d be content enough to drop the issue. Instead I’m sentenced to being trolled and victim blamed for a bug I didn’t cause.

I will give you the TL;DR of that mammoth of a thread : we’ve been given many different answers by many different GMs, and told to take various courses of action. Then there was silence and all that is left is speculation and a lot of unanswered questions.
Do I want my stuff back? Of course I do. Especially today, knowing I had many of the items for the current Secret Quest. Especially this week, knowing I had a tab full of Heavy Junkboxes. I would’ve liked to sell a lot of mats to be able to buy the AH/Mail mount. I could’ve afforded it, if my bank hadn’t been wiped.
But what I (and most of us “Karens”) want, more than my hundred of items, is to not be ghosted. Is to have one single guideline, rather than a bunch of confusing returns from GMs. Is to have finality (and don’t quote me that SINGLE blue post unless you read the whole of it - there’s no finality to it). Tell me, ok, we tried. Tell me that restoration is over and to stop waiting. And tell me you’re sorry. Actually sorry. Tell me that you took measures for it never to happen again. I’m a paying customer, it’s the least they can do.
None of them will willingly step up to take responsibility.

Compensation is out of the question because it would be unproveable and unmeasurable.

I agree that it’s unacceptable for a studio with Blizzard’s resources to have unrecoverable data loss occur, but it doesn’t change the sad reality that unrecoverable data loss occurred. There isn’t much that can be done about that, unfortunately. It never should have been able to happen in the first place, but it did and we have to make our peace with that one way or another and bear it in mind moving forward.
Some of the people on my server and MG. One or two posted in the thread that pages of mail came in to them.
