Warcraft Direct: When Something Is Wrong, You Make It Right

Simple. The short term log us players can see shows if an item or gold was removed. My mind would be blown if they simply don’t have longer form logs.

And before I get a response of “the Data was lost or corrupted”

They don’t say what data was lost. They don’t mention logs at all. They don’t say how some items were able to be recovered and others werent. Do they not push these game altering updates to test servers first? Do they not have, or have the ability to, temporarily, roll back servers? Or even pull past snapshots for more accurate lists of missing items?

This could not be any more relevant. Pushing game breaking bugs and 90$ macrotransactions along side oneanother. Disregarding someone’s argument entirely for that statement shows nothing but pure contempt for the playerbase, if not the betterment of the game itself.

I HIGHLY doubt they would put themselves in the position of not having any recourse of backup. If they did, that is a really stupid thing to do.
