Excited? You basically told us to stop playing our SoD characters because there’s one phase left and then the void. And who wanted fresh anything?? We wanted Classic Plus!

If you announce a Classic+ and carry SoD characters over to it, that’s dead on day 1.
Will never touch that.
Ya know, that was ‘cute’ back in the day. But I’m not a kid anymore.
Tell me what to expect, because if it’s anything other than “Classic+, where we keep it lvl 60 and roll out new content as ‘patches’ instead of ‘expansions’; which you segregate with instancing - I want seamless transition.”. Then I want to know now so I can stop spending money on a product that isn’t going to be what I want.
But that’s exactly why you won’t tell us. Because it’s not Classic+, it’s probably something lame like “TBC SoD”, where it’s just TBC, with Runes and ‘somechanges’. And you figure a not-so-insignificant portion of the playerbase will just evaporate at the announcement.
…the Microsoft shareholder in my can appreciate the “string along”. But that same shareholder is also irritated that they can’t make an informed decision as to whether or not to buy more shares now or sell while the price is high.

I was under the impression that SoD characters will move to Era, is this not the case?
Only if they want to commit Seppuku. Shamans, Paladins, Rogues, Warlocks, and Mages would suddenly be stripped of the new roles that many of us picked them to play.

If the plan is to keep it running, why not rename it from a seasonal server naming convention and instead call it “wow classic: discovery” or something of the like?
May give more people confidence by its very name that it’s something they can invest time into, without the fear every 6 months wondering if blizzard has changed their minds if they want to keep sod alive or not?

Sod pvp is about as bad as I have ever seen in wow and the pvp Rank 13 gear was the biggest slap in the face I have ever seen a community receive.
Classic wow is 100x better than anything they have made in the modern era

all versions of classic WILL DIE once PVE gear pub stomps pvp gear. AQ coming out is where it dies off every time.
Until they learn this and understand why and then FIX THIS issue it will continue to die.

Bloodmoon also coming back my dude, and I for one hope for some SoD arenas. I would play the stuffing outta that.
I will not play a version of WoW without mage healing, i love having that option to swap to it on the fly if the raid is short a healer or wants to put more power into healing.
Plus, it’s hella fun. Be utterly crazy to remove Shaman tanks, mage healers, rogue tanks, etc. Fresh classic era is just bad gameplay compared to what SoD has, not gonna play that.

And what’s that? One phase to go before being put to pasture? People are actively talking in my guild right now about shutting down shop because our leadership has decided it’s time to quit. Some are going to retail, a few to HC Classic, a few to these silly ‘fresh’ servers…our community died today after this ‘exciting news.’

Seriously? The dk scarlet zone as the scarlet content instead of, idk, scarlet cathedral (if its even that, it might just be the scarlet zones in normal wpl/epl, which if true is even lazier than inputting the wrath scarlet area.
karazan crypts as a freaking dungeon/outworld content? no raid at all?
undoubtedly just som naxx like youve done every single 60 raid?
NO new content in the slightest? No announcement at all? Why even keep the characters or the servers if you’re going about this with so minimal input or implementation that, now for the third time, theres not even new content at all except for loot systems that are abandoned immediately into the next tier?
I mean aggrend wasnt even in the direct nor does he post anymore. Was he fired/refocused? I guess he’s just jumped ship/forced off the ship?
Whats worse, on the AQ post that was getting backlash, beyond said backlash, they didnt bother to read or reply to anything that was said in there, clearly, because of this barebones “announcement”.
At this point sod might as well just be a poorly done repacked private server. Cause thats all it feels like even in the “announcement” today. The fact we are even hyphenating announcement should say enough. I was going to come back in anticipation of P6 but after this, and KNOWING all p7 is, is som naxx, a few quests in deadwind pass, and, at best, 2 dungeons that are of similar vein to the ashenvale one, why even bother?
At least on retail I’m making progress on my main and its new content. Something the sod team just literally refuses to do at this point despite EVERYONE asking for new content, and new content being the literal reason for this set of servers in the first place.
once i go sod, i’ll never go back to classic.
SOD has been a fun experimental ride. Each phase the new content (instance, dungeon, boss, easter egg) was too little. Players wanted more new content instead of copy+pasting old content. I thought we were promised a whole new story line, new classes (dk/dh).
It’s a doomsday apocalypse for SOD. As soon as the guild finished first downing NAXX. It’s gg to SOD.

Fresh is the easiest low effort cash grab yet.

Diablo 3 and 4 are terrible games. They have one of the best ALL time games to mimic in Diablo 2 and we get dumpster fires

Hard to recreate a masterpiece without having the team that created said masterpiece. Pretty wild that in the Vivendi / activision transition they pretty much brushed off the diablo devs as not worth negotiating with.
Peter Hu (LoD patch 1.xx+ dev / runeword dev) and Erich Schaefer (one of the 3 OGs) are working on an ARPG with destructible scenery. Seems like a very cool concept, with some pretty solid fundamentals. Moon Beast Productions on YT if you wanna check it out. Still a lot of polishing left to be done, but has some promise to it.
