Would you guys want a ‘Warcraft 2’ movie?

If so, what characters would you love to see more of?

Yes, if only to watch it crash and burn even harder than the first one lol.

$439.1 million at the box office apparently. That doesn’t sound like a crash or a burn.

It lost money.

Oh wow, yeah just got to the bit about how much it lost on marketing. God damn.

It was the highest grossing movie based on a game until the Sonic movies.

That said, the changes they made to the universe made me less interested in seeing a continuation.

Same for me. The Alternate universe thing video game movies tend to do turns me away most of the time.

I have to agree. I did enjoy the movie well enough. Quite a lot even. I think the visuals were fantastic. The cgi for the orcs was amazing, and the world was so full of little details from the game. It was hard not to love the amount of care that was put into that. But when there is so much care put into making it look right to the fans it makes it that much stranger that they would deviate in so many of the story details. Something those same fans will be very sensitive to.

It is when there was a $160 Million production budget and another $100 million or so in promotion and distribution. In general for a movie to be considered successful, it needs to double its production budget with US ticket sales. It only made $47 million in the US.

Theaters take a good portion of those ticket sales to stay operational. Especially international venues where most of the money was made. Those will take 70-90% of the sales.

They did probably make up a lot of ground in licensing and streaming but the studio probably won’t take a chance on a second film.

Yeah, it was interesting to see the direction the story took within that movie. But we know how the Warcraft story goes decades into the future from there. And we know, that anything we see will just be another AU version of stuff we’ve already seen. For one movie it can skate by, but I don’t think I’d want to watch a whole AU series.

It did indeed lose money domestically, as with the marketing-flop it had only made $47.3 million …

World-Wide however?

Warcraft made $439 million at the worldwide box office – As international audiences gravitated to the fantasy game adaptation, accounting for over $391 million of the final box office total.

It was, at the time, the highest-grossing video game adaptation worldwide – until ‘Pokemon: Detective Pikachu’ came along in 2019.

Personally?

I’d much rather them have a high-budget ‘Warcraft’ TV series, akin to the quality of Game of Thrones (minus the last two seasons, obviously) :yum:

:star_struck: I’d love to see the story of Arthas unfold!

No, it just lost money in general.

Only if we cast Viggo Mortensen as Varian

This. Instead of re-telling the story of the games poorly, the movies should be telling stories we don’t see in the games.
