You know there are alot of things I like about Sylvanas’ character. How she does not believe in hope or life. How she would not leave something to chance or depend on another; the very thought of doing so is quickly dismissed. It causes her great pain to trust someone because they will end up betraying her like Saurfang. Her rein was limited but I want to point out a few of the things she got accomplished.
Successfully saved the Horde and Alliance Fleets from mass wiping to a losing battle against the Legion forces at The Broken Shore.
Successfully lead the horde through delegative duties to both protect Orgrimmar, the Hordes cities and fight the Legion while also recruiting the High Mountain Tauren and the Nightborne.
Correctly noticed the power potential of Azerite via her choice advisers and used this knowledge to get a power edge on the Alliance.
Saved the Princess and Future Queen of Zandalar Talanji which lead to a new strong fighting force to join the Horde.
She moved the Forsaken away from hostile Alliance territory into the safe haven that is the Horde Capital city and territories.
She successfully freed the Forsaken from her role as their leader. Now the Horde are convinced that the forsaken have surrendered their loyalties to Sylvanas because (as so many of you argue) Sylvanas said everybody is nothing including the forsaken and her followers (although I disagree). Thus allowing them to be accepted into horde society and giving them the freedom away from the path of fire she walks.
I think those were some solid accomplishments. I think there are many more that I am not mentioning but those are some that I noticed.
I agree she was not but she made the call the actual Warchief should have done. She was right. I consider it her first act.
She sealed the deal. Ultimately the alliances were done based off the impression the leaders gave of openness.
She chose who would serve in her cabinet and chose well. She could have made it a full cabinet of Sylvanas Forsaken supporters but she did not. She actually assembled a very good group of people that hate being in the same room as each other. In doing so she learned about Azerite faster than anyone and capitalized it. Thus the horde now have a 3/1 advantage in Mythic raiding guilds over the alliance.
More like making the right decisions at the right time to force change. I like that.
I do not consider it evil to free people from being persecuted and letting them live their lives away from the mayhem that follows your path. I think its noble.
That sounds like sealing the deal with me. If they thought she was worse for them then the alliance they would have gone for the alliance.
If you think that choosing your cabinet correctly is a matter of chance then that is a very limited view amongst people especially leaders.
There were plenty of reasons to start a war. First of all the Alliance suck. Second of all she could use the war to take the forsaken out of the alliance lands. Finally she can really reduce the alliance forces to a point where they would be so far stretched that Stormwind would be easy to attack. There may be other reasons that the story has yet to tell us.
She knows that in time they would have always gone back up. She knows how we are. How the Alliance are. How Greymane is. She would rather attack while the Alliance is weak then wait until you guys grow much stronger.
They were never accepted by the Alliance. Its the whole original reason the Forsaken allied with Sylvanas. Because the Alliance forsook them. In terms of genocide I do not think its noble but I also think Sylvanas intended to start a war that day and to end it with little bloodshed. Due to Saurfangs traitorous actions in refusing to kill Malfurion the death of one could not be exchanged for the deaths of the many. She intended to have those tree huggers leave. Perhaps Malfurion did not think that she was serious enough that he tried to put up a defense. He was wrong. Anything but a complete retreat in front of Sylvanas’ army was a horrible decision.
But she saved the forces to fight another day. If we stayed we would have died and thats the end of the story. The Legion would have won.
Speaking of good choices, remember that time she raised Lord Godfrey, trusted him, and ended up getting shot in the head? She wasted several of her limited pool of Val’kyr on that “wise” decision.
I agree with you 100% but considering it an accomplishment is not a widely held view amongst the horde or the alliance. Although I do agree with you 100%
