I currently have a ticket open, US100340240, where I explain that a UI bug caused two of my main characters to be deleted when I was deleting some low level alts. I was told by CS during the ticket that there is nothing they can do. Can someone else please look into this issue? This is not a case of wanting to recover a deleted character, this is a case of I deleted 1 character and the game deleted 2. To test this, I deleted a few more alts and watched another of my main characters be deleted even though I had selected a lv10 character and pressed delete, both the lv10 character and my lv70 rogue, who was in the warband UI, were deleted.
On the EU forums some say this happened and they had their character’s restored, specifically the last person replying, Bryndrifa, said that their character was restored during the prepatch last week. Another cites this happened to a streamer they watch who had their character restored.
That’s not something that can be done via the CS forums. You’re welcome to reopen your ticket, but I do not believe that this is something a GM can currently help with.
Additionally, I’m not too sure that this has been a confirmed bug versus people accidentally deleting the wrong character as they have the wrong server selected. With the new character selection screen, this became a little trickier to decipher.
But the ticket is your only avenue to have this looked into.
It shouldn’t be tricky to decipher. I see this individual character pulled up, press delete. Why would it delete a character from the warband UI? It you have to decipher what character you really have selected or what server you’re on, warbands need to go. But yes, I’m hoping I get a CS representative who understands the situation and doesn’t hit me with a prewritten response.
They may respond with a template, or they might advise you that the restoration service still isn’t working and that they can’t bypass it.
I know we’ve heard some cases where players have said a GM could help, but that seems to have been earlier on.
As for suggestions regarding the UI, I don’t disagree that it should be clearer. That sort of feedback is best provided in-game using the in-game suggestion feature or via the UI and Macro forum.
Yeah, time will tell. thanks for the reply Perl, hoping blizzard can do right by this. The warband feature has been a headache for me personally, and if the restore function isn’t enabled by expac launch I will have no reason or desire to play this game anymore.
I reported it already, but there is some very wonky stuff going on with the character list interface right now. Several times last night I’d select an alt to check auctions/mail. Click on said alt and push the login button, only to watch the screen change right before my eyes to the character creation screen with a generic character that definitely was NOT the character I had chosen. After the loading screen popped and the character logged in, it was the proper character. But it kept happening. No matter the alt I chose, I’d get this momentary point where the character creation screen would pop up before the loading screen.
This has made me uneasy and very reluctant to delete some Re-mix alts right now until things settle down.
yeah I experience this same issue a lot as well. I assume the character restore feature was disabled because it was probably a showstopper for enabling the warband UI. seems like Blizz is fine with launching one of their biggest expansion features in a buggy state at the dismay of the players
pretty much was my experience, I was deleting lv10 toons I had on illidan/tichondrius that I was reserving names for future characters and my two main characters got deleted that were in the warband list.
seems like a UI bug where you delete character X, it lands on character Y, but its really selecting character Z from the warband list and it felt like 2 characters got deleted, but cant confirm that part. At a minimum can confirm what you view on the screen vs which character is actually selected is not the same. I’ve never accidentally deleted characters in the past or had to worry about weird UI selection issues, and 100% know for sure that when I was deleting the alts, the character I see when I hit the delete button was not part of the warband list, and was in fact a singular character with the old style character selection UI.
and I agree with Darthwraith, would not advise deleting any characters to be safe.
To my knowledge it only deletes the one in the favorite four. Personally I would recommend putting the one you are deleting into the first slot of your favorites before deleting it. Definitely don’t have your main in that group.
That is what I have done. Removed any characters from the favorites list and ONLY placed the character to be deleted in one of those slots. I was then able to delete characters safely.
