Did the latest campaign quest where you watch the Threads of Destiny cinematic. After the cinematic, the game just went total silence.
Oh and the cutscenes in the quests when Alliance and Horde navy arrived were all mute too.
It’s still happening now, you have to relog to fix it fully but it ruins the cutscenes, its ridiculous
I too have the same issue and can confirm the above 2 quests have had this problem for me. This only became an issue after the reset on 8/27/24, but then again I sparsely played and their have been multiple resets recently so it’s possible the regression could have been introduced on 8/28/24.
This needs a hotfix in my oppinion as I don’t really plan to replay the story all over again and youtube doesn’t even have these cutscenes.
Maybe a future feature should be to allow players to experience all cut-scenes in the cavern of times.
Having this problem for any cutscenes in war within - somehow it’s muting the dialogue/turning it off, the moment a cutscene activates.
There’s old threads something about Details causing this in like 2023, but I haven’t found any solution that actually permanently fixes this. Completely ruined multiple main-quest sections for me.
The game had this exact same bug with the TWW prepatch cinematics, and they (eventually) fixed those.
Why the reversion?
Related but opposite bug. Since some Ahn-Karet cutscenes yesterday, I only hear character dialogue – all other sound is gone. Restarting, clearing cache/wtf, and toggling the switches in interface don’t fix the issue.
Edit: In case it’s useful, the sound cuts out when the character choosing screen loads. Before that, the music is playing as normal.
Tested using “The Queen’s Chains” There’s a checkpoint right before you get the cinematic basically, can abandon the quest after.
Turned details off, quit game, re-did the cinematic…nope, still mutes, so it’s not Details-related this time.
Tested with all addons deactivated. No difference, still get the glitch.
Yep, exact same issue as everyone described.
5800X (x86_64/AMD64) so “normal/standard” Windows 64-bit client.
edit: Tried it on Galaxy Book which is Windows on ARM. Its under-powered for this game,
(8cx Gen2), launching native ARM64 Wow-ARM64.exe still has the same issue.
Can’t test a Mac version.
This happened to me in the pre-patch first, then seemed fine during early access. Once reset came, every new cut scene from the next chapter of the campaign has been bugged. need to relog to get all dialogue back.
I was searching this bug and saw a response on the EU forum where they were aware of a client bug and were working on a rebuild/patch. But yeah, same thing happening to me. It’s a great MMORPG when all the cutscenes are silent film. Feels like a regular Nintendo game. Someone needs to blow on the cartridge and fix the cutscene audio, please.
Edit to add: I was on the way to defeat the Titan right after this original post and got auto DCed. BAM! Let’s kick it up a notch. GGs.
I’m just astounded that blizz still hasn’t acknowledged the issue.
I’m getting the same issue. no voices for the in-game cutscenes. This started for me just today with the new story quests that unlocked this week. Announce the bug and fix it blizzard.
I’m still having the same problem. I reported it here a few days ago.
I’m still getting cutscene dialogue problems, and after logging in today, I’m not hearing basic interaction dialogue either. Blizz: 2 months of beta and 3 days early access and 2 hotfixes later and no fix? That’s pretty unacceptable after paying $100
LOL, I first thought it could be my graphics card audio, but after your test this is definitely not a IHV specific issue likely a generic bug in the game.
Same issue
Yes, this is happening to me as well. I get in-game cutscenes with no voice, and you can tell there are voices there as they move their mouths, and the music volume dials back. But silence. It would have been nice to get that dialogue in chat somewhere so it could at least be read, ala FFXIV.
I had subtitles turned off so I will flick them on to see if I can at least get those.
Happening for me as well, dialog only. I used /reload and the cutscene had dialog audio for a line or so, then cut out again. Once the dialog audio cuts out, it’s out for ingame and cutscene. Using /reload works sometimes to get dialog, not every time. Restarting the client works for a short time. I thought at first it was the voice over ai add-on I had installed, so I removed it. The problem persists. Closed all background apps (discord, etc), problem still persists.
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX
64 GB DDR5 6000mhz
Sound Blaster AE-5 Plus
Happening to me too. Seems system ambiguous and likely a game bug.
