War supply crate no longer drops?

Just watched an airship from zone in to zone out and it never dropped a war supply crate. The airship even showed up as “war supply crate” on the map but just kept moving until it disappeared.

Come on, Blizz, what’s going on? If you want to take air dropped war supply crates out, why leave the airship in? If it’s a bug, why didn’t you fix it when I reported it on beta over a month ago?

Was just about to make a post on this.

After farming supply crates non-stop for the last 2 days, 15 rings and counting(thx blizz), I’ve just watched 2 4 7 planes fly through the zone without dropping anything. I even went back and checked the points along the route to be sure.

How did they even break this?

I saw one dropped last night.

I saw the same but then when I traced the path , I found that it had dropped a crate

I saw two drop, think I saw all of five yesterday fly over. Was able to track one down but then I got phased out while trying to open the chest.

Those that saw a drop, did you see a parachute, or did the crate just appear on the ground?

It would be good to know just what causes them to drop or not drop, or if they fixed the bug, to know that.

I didn’t see a chute but I may have missed seeing it as I just retraced the rough route I saw the plane take on the map

I’ve seen 2/2 in Tiragarde (one each route) that didn’t drop anything at their three points. Followed both from start to end to see if they’d changed the drop points, still nothing.

Ive seen 2 so far 1 had a chute but i was way to far away to get to it and the other one i didnt even know had landed until i saw people fighting for it and joined in.

Maybe the problem is related to view distance since i didn’t see an earlier one but after maxing view distance to take pics of the zone i saw the other one.

I’m up to three planes now where i never saw a chute or a chest anywhere along the path it took, all in Zandalar.

I had one drop last night. They can drop anywhere In the path of the plane, you have to track it down, it also takes a while for it to land. GL out there

if you see a plane fly over and not drop anything…depending on angle (i think they do this) the plane might have crossed the island at an angle to fly over at least two zones, so it might drop on another zone.

When I see a plane, I note its heading, compared to mine, then look at them on the map to maybe see where the flight line was / is. Sometimes is seems like they came from the other zone or are heading to the other zone.

I’ve been tracking these down since the expansion hit, and basically have all the past drop paths and points in zuldazar memorized now from trying to get a chest every day. I’m now up to 4 different times where i see a plane in zuldazar, noting that they’ve all been on the same paths that were used pre-8.2, follow that path, until the plane disappears, and yet not a single chute or chest anywhere to be found on the path. Something changed with this patch, maybe it’s working some times, maybe i’m phasing out more than I was last week, maybe something about adding it to the map screwed it up, I don’t know, but saying “you have to track it down” isn’t helping, and I’ve never seen a plane in zuldazar that could’ve come from a different zone, so I don’t know what you’re talking about there.

What am I missing here? A little bit of conquest and some junk gear is all I ever get from these. I wouldn’t consider trying to track them at all. If they are close by, I loot them.

There is a mechanic in the game that is not working as intended.

Of course, I get that. I was just curious as to the reward vs effort being described. One poster has, for instance, memorized all of the plane routes in the various zones to maximize their ability to find crates. I was just trying to understand the benefit.

If it’s just fun or a challenge, that’s cool.

I haven’t seen a war supply crate in months.

I noticed last night that a drop was coming in Nazjatar but on my map just saw the icon fly through the zone from top to bottom but when I looked in the actual world with my eye parts I saw the crate coming down on a parachute but there was no map indicator.

One time I noticed that there was a map icon on where a supply drop landed so who knows at this point which system is supposed to be the intended one. I personally like the idea of the path being visible on the map but the actual drop location not marked and ya gotta scan the skies.

I can’t explain why, it’s probably bugged, but every crate I’ve seen drop in Naz has landed in the water pools just south of both faction towns. Never seen them drop anywhere else.
